Default Would you trade the 2002 and 2010 Olympic Golds for a 2004 Cup win?

Let me explain:

Would you trade the 2002 and 2010 Olympic runs for the Stanley Cup in 2004?

Factor in any reasons you may choose.

Let me know of your reasoning below.

Ohhh, tough question. But that's because I was at the 2010 gold medal game and likely would have been there for 2004 (had playoff tix and was at game 6).

I would say yes. 2004 was just magical. 2010 was incredible but it's much more expected that Canada wins despite beating the US in OT.

Hard to say. Obviously your team winning the cup is a dream come true for any NHL fan. But for me that 2002 Gold medal win was something special. I remember everything I was doing that day, every emotion I felt, and every play that was made in the Gold medal game. I still have a picture of the entire 2002 team on my wall and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I was only 17 at the time, but to me it will be my biggest source of national sports' pride. Something I'll tell my grandkids about.

I'd trade the 2010 gold medal for that '04 cup. But at the same time, there's something soothing about cheering for team Canada. Since we are always the favorite to win, and we usually do, it's nice to know you have a team you can cheer for where you have a legit chance to win it all. You can't say that about the Flames, or really any NHL team unless you are a Red Wings fan.

I'm on the fence if I would trade the '02 & '10 gold medals. The '02 one means so much. But I'd easily trade the '10 and '14 gold medals for a cup win.

I'd trade every gold medal in every olympics until the end of time for a Stanley Cup.

The 2014 gold I could see being on the block, but beating the Americans in their own backyard and again at home to set the record for most golds by a host nation at that Olympics was huge for the nation.

We wouldn't be able to claim we are the best nation in hockey considering the Olympics is the only time we get a good turn out from stars for an international event. I don't know if I would enjoy everyone saying Sweden is the top dog. Hockey is supposed to be our sport. I would take the gold medals and national pride.

Yep, 2004 cup.
Call me selfish but I don't care because its harder for the Flames (or any NHL team) to win the cup then it is for team Canada to win the gold; Plus team Canada will continue to win more golds then the Flames will win cups.

If the Canadians lost in 2010, that means the Americans win. Having to watch another "miracle on ice" is not worth having to watch the Flames lose to the Lightning. If it was the Flames vs Oilers, that's different.

2002, maybe, because I didn't watch hockey then, but I still remember the day we won it (I was 12). 2010, I don't think I could. The 2010 Winter Olympics was the time I've felt my absolute proudest and patriotic about being a Canadian. Those Olympics meant the world to me, it's the first time I truly followed them and every sport they brought. Canada winning hockey gold was the cherry on top of an incredible collection of great moments in Canadian history.

I'm not sure if I could trade that medal for a Stanley Cup in any year

It's more difficult for an NHL team to win the Cup than it is for Canada to win a gold.

Even if the Olympics are only every 4 years, I would bet on Canada winning another gold before the Flames are back in the SCF.

So yeah, I take the Cup every time.

I also don't find 5 or 6 top heavy teams dominating the international stage as exciting the a SCF series.

The IOC is a corrupt organization anyways, so yeah, obviously. Plus 2004 was a magical time to be a Calgarian.
