Isn't the Canucks 1st round pick in the same slot whether they go out in the first round or the 2nd (even the 3rd round IIRC)?

The things the Canucks have going for them are depth and amazing defensive numbers since December. Id call them favourites but not so heavily that the Preds are heavy underdogs.

Preds winning in 6 or 7 would not be a massive upset.

If we look at the second half of the season these teams were tied for the 3rd best record in the Western Conference.

Vancouver: 54 Points vs Nashvile: 54 Points
Vancouver: 122 Goals For vs Nashville: 139 Goals For
Vancouver: 113 Goals Against vs Nashville: 118 Goals Against
Vancouver: 51.9% Goals For vs Nashville: 54.1% Goals For
Vancouver: 54.3% Expected Goals For vs Nashville: 53.1% Expected Goals For
Vancouver: 10.4% Shooting Percentage vs Nashville: 10.0% Shooting Percentage
Vancouver: .898 Save Percentage vs Nashville: .906 Save Percentage

That's a pretty close final 41 games...but with the disclaimer the Canucks were missing Demko. And in the end this series probably comes down to Demko vs Saros.

Which if we look at each starting goalie over each teams last 41 games...

Demko: 21 GP, .921 Sv Percentage, 9.84 GSAA
Saros: 31 GP. .913 Sv Percentage, 8.74 GSAA

And look at the total book of work over each goalies last two seasons:

Demko: 82 GP, .911 SV%, 18.4 GSAA
Saros: 128 GP, .913 SV%, 35.2 GSAA

So I don't know...with Demko recovering from injury, and with Saros finding his form after a slow start this feels like the series is much closer than a 2 vs 7 series normally would be. Nashville in 6, Lindholm and Zadorov are scapegoated by Canucks fans for providing little impact.
Are you willing to pull those numbers for each series? That would really help me with my bracket choices.

Third-round losers draft 29th and 30th. Other than that, you're right.

Demko has been out for a while until recently, but I haven't liked Vancouver's game very much in the last while. I think the Preds are coming in hot and have what it takes to potentially beat out the Nucks. My prediction: Vancouver stumbles early in the series and doesn't recover - Preds in 5.

Preds in 4. Lindholm will continue to be the most invisible guy in the playoffs since Joe Thornton.

ha ha... hope no canuck fans were planning on seeing a road game....

Quote:
Fans were greeted with a warning on the Ticketmaster site that they would be unable to buy tickets from outside of the “Nashville Predators television viewing area - Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.”
“To better serve Nashville predators fans, a restricted sales area has been implemented,” reads the warning. “Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside the viewing area will be canceled without notice and refunds given.”
...
Canucks fans don’t even have the option of buying tickets on the secondary market. Sites like StubHub use Ticketmaster Ticket Transfers to pass tickets along from the original buyer but the message on the Ticketmaster site says, “Ticket Transfers will be disabled for this event.”

Wow. I bet some Canucks fans were excited to go to Nashville. Where there's a will there's a way though.

Canucks fans are very confident and starting to turn into 2010 Canuck fans now that they're back in the playoffs... That unfortunate as they've been pretty bearable the last while.

Should we really be using this random individual on twitter as a litmus for the overall feeling of the entire Canucks fan base though? Or any individual on twitter for that matter?

Isn't Taj the guy that other Canucks fans consider an unstoppable moron?

Taj is considered a very negative Canuck fan by most Canuck fans, so to see him this positive is quite a change!

Taj is just considered an idiot by most Canucks fans. Whether positive or negative he's dumb.

Drance is someone we consider to be overly negative. He is correct here, Preds are not a push over.
