Default Flames Twitter GM 6 1989 Live Stream

Maybe this can be a temporary thread (if such a thing exists), but the Flames twitter has:

-Murzyn
-Nattress
-Otto
-Patterson
-Macoun
-Lanny

...all chatting while watching GM 6 against the Habs right now!!!

Hoping to catch a few of youse if possible. It's absolutely amazing, and super hilarious!

Turned it on just in time to see Ric Nattress announce he needs to take a pee break.

After discussing the Habs running Vernon all day... "Somehow Denis Morel missed the calls. Who would believe it?"

Nice to see they had the same opinion of Morel that I did.

Me and my Dad too, during that series...

Man, this is great. And Lanny is a wee bit tipsy

FYI:

Apparently it's streaming on Facebook, YouTube and Flames.com too, if people don't have Twitter...

31 years later and I still can't stand Denis Morel's stupid face.

He was also the guy who missed the OT-GWG in LA the following year, IIRC.

Lemieux runs Vernon with a minute and a half to go. Obvious penalty but Morel gives MacInnes one as well for being in the area.

And back then the Forum had some blonde babe behind the Habs bench with Pat Burns. Weird.

And don't forget Mr. Morel also had the Flames 2 men short to begin the overtime.

Anyone who says Vernon doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame because "he was never the best player at his position" (which is a ridiculous argument in the first place) needs to watch that game (and the whole playoff run).

I've always said he should have won the Conn Smythe. He was the reason we got past the Canucks in the first rounds. Saves against Skriko and Smyl in OT of game 7.

Vernon was great but MacInnis was other-worldly that run. He led the league in playoff scoring as a dman! Bottom line is you need great performances from multiple guys to win a Cup. Rarely can one guy carry a team to the end.

He was a cheater since he was a rookie in the 86 SC final.

The whole video is on the Flames YouTube channel.

Even though they're talking while watching the game, I don't think it's absolutely necessary to be watching along with them (although, it would be good if you can).

Nice! I missed this last night, so will be checking this out for sure. I'm in the states so have not been able to see any of the games. I know that Game 6 has been on YT forever but have never been able to see games 1-5 in their entirety. How has the quality been on them? Did Sportsnet sharpen them up at all? Between this and the Canada Cup being shown on TSN, it's tough being a hockey fan and not being able to watch those.

Agreed-helps to watch the game along with them, but funny nevertheless. Love seeing that they joke about each other just like my beer-league teammates do.

I also really appreciated how Brendan Parker hosted. He just let them go. Lanny, Nattress and Macoun don’t need encouragement to talk, that’s for sure!

I’m not sure if people born into the tech-communications-era will ever understand how surreal it is for people of my generation to be able to engage with athletes/musicians/etc in this manner. This kind of thing would’ve been unthinkable when I was a kid. It’s simply fantastic to be able to gain these insights, and to have these guys be such willing participants.

Yeah, I actually fired this up thinking the game would be going on with it--sort of hard to follow, but awesome non the less.
