I thought it was hilarious. Obama was good. I loved Seth as Ryan Lochte.

SNL Weekend Update ‏@SNLUpdate
@Sherlander6 Tomorrow's Thursday Prime Time is a brisk 30 mins starting at 8PM on @nbc

This could be one reason for the delay of Community. SNL will have Thursday Night Update shows during the election campaign.

I thought last night's episode was pretty good. They relied quite a bit on Bruno's singing, which was to be expected, but he was funny enough on his own.

The carnival ride sketch is always enjoyable...the cast members do a good job portraying mannequins.

Louis CK hosts the next show.

Sad Mouse was my favorite. Followed by the Merryville Brothers.

The last two shows were good (Applegate and Mars). A funny host makes a big difference. Jay does a good Obama.

Kate McKinnon will be the break-out star to replace Wiig. Her eyes are so expressive and she has such a presence.

I didn't know anything about Bruno Mars, but he is one talented kid. That first song will be the pop hit of the year.

How I'd rate the episodes this season:

1. Seth Macfarlane-The puppet sketch was awesome, Macfarlane as Lochte was hilarious, the Gagnam Style skit was goofy, but fun.

2. Christian Appelgate-Tech Talk was great, always love the Californians(Fred Armisen rules)

3. Bruno Mars-surprised by how talented this guy was......

4. JGL-nothing special here

5. Daniel Craig-pretty brutal episode. Worst of the season, easily.

Looking forward to Louis CK

I've been finding the cast and writing has been stronger the last little while, compared to even 3-4 years ago.

Keenan Thompson is the worst though...I can't believe he's still on the show.

I really am surprised to read that as I cannot hit mute fast enough when that drivel starts. EVERY time it's that puerile drawl explaining directions. I feel queasy even thinking about that garbage.
However, I couldn't agree more about that puppet skit. I must have rewound that 20 times..

Oh, I can totally see how people don't like it, I just love how over the top it is.

Personal taste.

I often find many Saturday Night Live skits aren't funny until the next day when I'm doing a voice or repeating a joke from one. I love to say "what are you doing here?!" in The Californian speak when my wife walks in the room. Makes me laugh anyway.

Season has been okay thus far. Being an election year they are doing a lot of political sketches, which have been a bit drawn out and laboured so far. It is hard to top Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. Jason Sudeikis is great as Romney and Biden, but lacking a strong foil.

Does anyone know why Hader always breaks during Stefon? We love the character but my wife and I are wondering if there's a reason he can't do it with a straight face the whole time. Maybe someone else writes it and he doesn't see it until he goes on update?

I think that is the reason, I seem to remember him on some talk show and that's what he said.

I believe that the writers change the cue cards on him beforehand without telling him (although I'm sure he expects it by now). And even if they didn't, some of the things he has to say are so ridiculous that even a granite statue would lose it.

That's exactly why. They (re)write a lot of the punchlines before it airs and don't show him them until just before he's supposed to read them.

John Mulaney is the guy who writes the Stefan bits. At 1:25, he talks about how he changes the cards between the dress rehearsal and the live show.

I became a fan when I saw his opening number at the Grammys. He(and his band) are a lot of fun to watch and just seems like a cool kid. Oh, and the boy can sing

Every time I think of SNL this exact skit comes to mind:

Which is then followed by...

"Well la de fricken' da, we got ourselves a writer here! Well Dad I can't see real good, is that Bill Shakespeare over there?"

edit: thanks Hockeyguy, can't believe I messed that up, I don't deserve to be in this thread.
