Twitter account shames 'D-bag' Calgary parkers

All of these and many more are what Brian LaBelle would classify as “D-bag” park jobs — and he has full intentions of shaming the folks responsible online.

A certified child and youth counsellor in Edmonton, LaBelle first launched a Facebook and Twitter account to call attention to poor parking in his hometown earlier this month.

But then he started getting inundated with photos from Calgary as well. It wasn’t long before @DBagParkingYYC was born.

“It started out with us just wanting to make fun of people,” LaBelle said. “But we’ve gotten quite a few people telling us, ‘I re-parked my car three times today because i was worried about ending up on this website.’

“So, there are people that are changing their habits and paying attention to it out of fear of having their vehicle posted.”
Troy McLeod, outgoing head of the Calgary Parking Authority, said he’s not sure public shaming is a useful tool, unless word of the infraction gets back to the guilty driver.

Worst thing about ParkPlus, people who have no spacial awareness and leave just enough space that no car can get in there in front or behind. Scooch up a bit and make another parking spot, you strugglers!

I'm all for shaming but if you own a lambo, I'll let you park where ever. Too many idiots in this city to park a car like that near other cars.

Then there are the days that you have to squeeze over to the corner and half create a new spot because the idiot across or beside you is an absolute mess. Of course an hour later when you come out, the idiot is gone and now you look like the "moran".

Meh, I bet a Lambo owner can afford to fix his car more than I can afford to fix mine.

Lambo or not, no one deserves to park like a D-bag. If you have a Lambo, and are worried then park it at the end of the parking lot and walk.

I've got to say, I have a part-time job as a delivery driver throughout the Lower Mainland, and I've never seen anything like those pictures.

Calgary must have some really ####ty drivers.
