Nope...not this time. It's the same weekend as the finals of the Brier.

Well, at least that's a valid reason to ignore Calgary this time around.

Crummy news about Li Na.

They could play in Calgary at WinSport.

They could play in Calgary at the Corral. But Tennis Canada wouldn't want to limit potential audience by competing directly against another major competition.

Hopefully Calgary gets a later round tie next year though. We were there for Tennis Canada when the country was lost in the tennis wilderness. Would be nice to get a chance to see the fruits of that labour.

Polak can you translate?

Sounds like Janowicz proposed to his girlfriend (a WTA player) while at a volleyball match.

Yeah the headline reads: "Janowicz proposed to Domachowskiej?" and then the little side headline thing says "and the witness was the president of Legia (Warsaw soccer team)"

Oh and in the top corner it says that he did it at a volleyball game.

Poland won the Volleyball World Championship yesterday. Great day.

Well if you were to translate "Tenisowa para na meczu siatkarzy" exactly then it says "The tennis pair were at the match of volleyball players" then under it "Czym Jerzyk tak wzruszyl marte?" means "How did Jerzyk move Marta like this?" (as in how did he get her so worked up).

Siatkarzy actually means Volleyball Players. The polish word for volleyball is siatkowka. The root word "Siatka" literally translated means "net". You only use "net" for sports like volleyball, tennis and badminton. For example if you said "Shoot it on net" during a soccer or hockey game in Polish people would have no clue what you're talking about. The word for a goal/net like a soccer or hockey net is "Bramka" which actually translates to "Gate"

Polish lesson for the day.

Vasek Pospisil loses to Juan Monaco at the Shenzhen Open (it was Monaco's 300th career ATP match win).

/For perspective, Feds has 979 career ATP match wins (next closest on the active list is Rafa at 702).

Yes reading about her play online it sounds like this is the best she's looked since she was in Europe. She'll just about qualify for the year end tournament if she can win this week.

considering Li Na retired, Bouchard should get in comfortably.

Genie into the final with ease, 6-2, 6-3. Kvitova awaits, obviously should be very interesting to see how Genie does in that one.

Correct, even though on your Shaw box it says 2am, it will be a 1am start.

Looks like the match was closer than last time. It's on the PVR and will need a look.
