I played some OnLive (competitor to Gaikai) probably a year ago and I was pretty surprised at how good it worked. With development time under the belt and what sounds like aggressive investment from Sony, I'm very interested to see how the tech will come along.
As for those hoping it'll be rolled into PS+, my guess is that's almost impossible. The debate seems to be around how much extra it'll cost, not if it'll be included. If I had to put a figure on it, I'd say $10-$15/month? Compared to something like Netflix, this could potentially be much more useful.

I could see myself renting Metal Gear Solid and The Last of Us, then if I enjoyed the set up and it worked well I might be inclinded to pay a monthly fee.

The bottleneck will probably always be dependent on the individual users internet connection.
They haven't released the speeds needed for a solid experience yet but I am guessing it would need to be decent internet connection.
No chance it is rolled into PS+, my guess is it will likely be an additional feature you can add to PS+ for around $10.

LOL. Gamertag "Xbox Watch TV" would be even better because it would make the user switch apps instead of *almost* signing them out.

That seems about right. When I called EB they said they have received 0 PS4 units since before Christmas and all they can do is hope they'll get a shipment in before February. The store I talked to had 14 preorders left to fill.

I wouldn't be so sure - N64 and Gamecube underperformed but they weren't outright disasters. Wii U has been a train wreck so far.

Nintendo needs to wake up and get some titles out for the Wii U. Its crazy the lack of big name titles, of course they aren't selling.

They released Super Mario 3D World too late and in a time frame that was not the greatest in order to generate hype.
They needed to get the head start on the PS4 and XBox One with games that people actually wanted, instead they squandered the head start with poor marketing that really confused customers with many not even knowing if the Wii U was any different then the Wii.
By squeezing their biggest game of the year, and their last real shot to make an impact in 2013, into a time frame that included the PS4, XBox One, and GTA5 launch they made a really poor marketing decision.
Now they are already behind the other consoles in terms of install base, and the best game of the year got lost in the shuffle of the other launches and is selling poorly.
They got lucky with the Wii due to a low price point and a motion control gimmick that was just kicking off being enough to attract people to buy their console. But now people realize that motion control was a gimmick, and for most the Wii just sat and collected dust. I don't think the casual market will make that mistake again with the Wii U.
Without the casual console market anymore their only real market will be hardcore fans of Nintendo games or families still looking for a more family friendly system.
The system itself actually isn't that bad. I like being able to play games on the tablet controller, and some of the games look great in HD. But a poor marketing message and limited software has really limited that system.
