Whew Rafa takes the first set, being a Rafa fan is literally like a roller coaster at times. The highs are some of the highest ever but the lows are o so low

After the first set he cruised winning 6-2,6-2 but his game still needs to come a long way if he wants to challenge Federer or even reach that match.

Tomorrow under the lights the last match on Arthur Ashe will be Shapovalov vs Tsonga! Love that the kid gets the bright lights of New York, lets see what he's got!!

That is actually pretty cool, to play a night match on the feature court in your first trip to a grand slam. Hopefully he makes a good showing.

Is this a sure thing because of all the postponed matches today?

Pretty stunned Genie got moved on to Ashe. Not because she's not any good or because the matchup isn't interesting in any way whatsoever. Just that she's still suing the USTA, so I'm kinda shocked they're actually helping her even a little (unless she was offered the Ashe spot for dropping the suit). Fully expected Denis on Ashe though, him and Tsonga is easily the most compelling second round match and Denis is a budding star.

Commentators have said that the court is slower and higher bouncing this year much like the AO, which will really help Nadal even when he has an off-day.

Berdych is really the only one that can blast him off a court like this.

Fed and Tiafoe just underway - Both guys wearing black Nike shirts with the hot pink swoosh. I'm getting Hart foundation flashbacks.

Wow. There are no streams available anywhere. That is super irritating.

Still feel sorry for him? Well once the crowd turns on him maybe.

He's an 18 year old who got out to a hot start and got up a break, I'm not exactly calling game set match at this point...

Yeah but suggesting you felt sorry for him implies you expected a beatdown. Obviously that's not in the cards

More that he didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning and thus wasn't likely to get any points towards Milan. I mean, I've been wrong before, and I'm actually able to watch this now, so... let's see.

EDIT: Hmmm... holds at love. On four straight second serves. Welp, he's not backing down from the grand stage, that's for sure.

And a really awful service game by Federer to open that one. What on Earth was that? Is that how he's been playing the whole time? Good lord.
