Sounds like alberta creates it's own "spotlight effect"
...The spotlight effect is the psychological phenomenon by which people tend to believe they are being noticed more than they really are. Being that one is constantly in the center of one's own world, an accurate evaluation of how much one is noticed by others is uncommon...
The reason for the spotlight effect is the innate tendency to forget that although one is the center of one's own world, one is not the center of everyone else's...

How about Alberta cares as much about the rest of Canada as Ontario and Quebec after we have as many seats in the senate as they do.

We don't care about Quebec either. The being oddly concerned about the other provinces is an Alberta only thing. Quebec would be close, but they really just care about themselves and not the other provinces.

You do know Alberta is at record production right? The super car is not on blocks, it’s cruising at 180. Maybe we can’t add another 500 horsepower to it but it’s pretty damn fast as it is.

More like people don’t care about politics nearly as much as people in this thread do.

Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and BC have 24 senators, same as Ontario, with a lower population in total. Quebec should have about 8 fewer.
As far as being underrepresented in the senate, it goes BC, AB, ONT, QUE.
Your issue is less with Quebec and Ontario, and more with the other provinces who are over represented.
This is all irrelevant because the senate isn't supposed to be by population anyway. That was done intentionally.

It was more a rhetorical point that suggest that not having to worry about the policy leanings of other provinces is a luxury that not everyone enjoys.
The confederation provinces were designed from the beginning to hold unequal power, and the only reason they now hold less than they first intended , is because folks pushed against it.
I am not suggesting that Albertans, or folks for SK or Man are victims, or are suffering, but an awareness of what is happening politically out east is important based on historic president.

Interesting, production has continued to increase (in general) but investment is at a 12 year low. So we’re bag driving the car as much as possible with minimal repairs or upgrades

I'm not sure that's really true. Our increased production is due to the oilsands, which had long term investments years ago, but now don't need so much spending.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan definitely aren’t victims as they are over-represented In both the House and the Senate compared to Ontario and Quebec and Alberta and BC. Saskatchewan particularly so.
An equal distribution of seats by province would concentrate more power in Ontario, any other suggestion is just wanting to create more unequal power in a different direction, or decide that democracy should be based on land rather than people.

I don't like Michelle Rempel Garner, but I do respect her for always being shrewd. The UCP are a disaster.

She makes a lot of good points about the absolute impossibility of leading this ship of knives. No one else on the leadership ballot looks to stand any chance. Prepare for more of the same.

It's very interesting to read such an in-depth discussion from Rempel and there isn't anything shocking there, but there is some airing of dirty laundry in a way that is a little surprising and potentially a bit discouraging to potential leadership voters.

That's her. When she speaks in the House of Commons she even gets special address from the Speaker as being the honorable representative of Oklahoma City.

Cry me a river, Michelle. The federal Conservative Party, to which she belongs, has been shamelessly courting the vote of racist deplorables for years. They've been using coded language like "Old Stock Canadians" (translation: white people), advancing legislation like Niqab bans and "Barbaric Cultural Practices" snitch lines, denying science, and, more recently, appealing to the worst Canadians by embracing members of the Freedumb Convoy and opposing the recommendations of our public health officials. You had an opportunity to stand against all of this years ago but you sat by and silently did nothing. In fact, you did worse than nothing by sewing the seeds of regional discontent with your ridiculous "Buffalo Declaration". You don't get to complain now that the chickens have come home to roost, Michelle.

She's Dr Frankenstein. She's created a monster, and is now too afraid to be in charge of it.
