That's when you reply and say Canadian snow is like cotton, so our snow burns right along with the forests and grasses.

Had this conversation at my last family get together but I'm curious what CP thinks.
Giving dogs human names, yay or nay? I think it's weird, but I'm the only one in my family who feels this way. For reference my dog's name is Copper, then some other dogs in the family are Ben, Charlie, Tony, you get the idea
Where do you folks land on this?

I give all my animals human names, even fish and stuff. But I'm a big weirdo.

I say yes, why not? Name a dog anything you want.
I know a guy who named his dog Kevin, and I think it's a good name.

I wanted to call my dog Newman because I knew right away he was going to be a little ####. I wanted to be able to come home and say "Hello Newman!" expecting mischievous activity in our absense. I was right and my wife who initially shot down my choice later admitted that it would have been the perfect name for him.

If it's always shouted like the mom from Home Alone, then I'll concede my point and that's a good name

I agree with this, but they should only be one syllable names. Tom, Rick, Steve, Paul etc

If I had a dog I would name him a cool name from antiquity or fiction that my wife immediately shot down when it came to naming our son.
- Apollo
- Obi-Wan Kenobi
- Aragorn Telcontar First of His House
- Jupiter
- Darth Vader
- Homer
Etc etc etc.

Dog’s name has to echo clearly throughout the neighborhood when you call, something like “pants”

I once had to deal with a difficult CSR guy named Luc. I always wanted to ask if it was short for Lucifer.

Our first cat (died about a year ago at 19!) was named Lenny. She was a black cat and we were Simpson's obsessed at the time so we thought it was funny to name a black cat Lenny. We always said if we got a white cat we'd name it Carl.
Fast forward to a few months after Lenny died and we got a white cat, his name was already Bobby....we added Carl so now our white-trash sounding cat is Bobby-Carl.

I fall in two camps. Super "human" names; or just completely ridiculous names. I once had a dog named "Bob". I would love to name a dog something dumb like "lamp" (so i can say, i love lamp). Who cares, that dog doesn't know what it means

Stella for a female dog would be awesome. Open the back door and just yelling STELLA! would make my day every time.
