Genuinely want to know what's so good about Jansen? He's always injured and hasn't been around for a full grueling season. Getting through a season shows a guy can adjust. They haven't been able to depend on him because of his constant injury history. At this point I don't have a ton of hope he won't reinjure himself.

The injuries are an issue but he’s a pretty solid power hitter. Despite the fact that he only had 300 at bats last season, he was 6th on the team in home runs at 17. In 2022, he had an OPS+ of 142.

The team is much, much better with him in the lineup. He just needs to stay in it. Protecting his hands at the plate is a must.

This is anecdotal, but it seems to me like Kirk plays better when Jano is available as well. Maybe he's someone that needs the push from some competition.

The competition is good for Kirk but, IMO, not having to squat hundreds of times a day every day is even better for him. With his body type, he really can’t be an everyday catcher. The rest for Kirk’s legs/hips is crucial.
