Both places are awesome. The national parks, geology and exploring are awesome in Utah. I've been around 8 times and am taking the kids for their first trip down to the national parks this summer.

The Avalanche’s ECHL affiliate, the Utah Grizzlies, play out of nearby West Valley City and draw great crowds. Depending on the Tucson Roadrunners own arena lease, I could see a future location swap. Probably too soon to put in place for next season though.
The trend for NHL teams lately seems to be having their farm team close by.

They can always swap teams and send the ECHL to Tucson.

I'm conflicted. I want to support the likely-to-be home team, feels right and civic. But I've been a Flames fan since I was 10 when my sister took me to a Golden Eagles game and Theo Fleury was so captivating at the Salt Place.
So I'm not sure I can just turn my back after a lifetime of Flames fandom, and to my wife's chagrin, a closet full of flames jerseys and hats.
And also what a previous Utah poster said, it's awful here. Please tell friends and family not to move here

If they get another team at some point, maybe they can call them the Arizona Arenas.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. The Flames did that when they moved their AHL team from Adirondack to Stockton and the ECHL team from Stockton to Adirondack.
The Grizzlies are currently affiliated with the Avalanche and the Coyotes don't have an ECHL affiliate.

Zion is incredible. Drove by it countless times without even realizing. Made a visit there finally last spring and it’s one of the most spectacular areas I’ve ever witnessed.

Gary’s done a lot of good for the billionaire owners of the NHL, but I feel like this is one real good example where his ego clouded his judgment. Another good example is in officiating and league accountability, but I doubt he possesses the self-reflection ability to ever address that properly too. It’s probably impossible to determine how many fans have been lost or won with the NHLs pivot to a more WWE sporting style rather than an authentic game.

The Grizzlies are currently owned by the Elmore family, who have several interests in minor league baseball and facility management. It would depend on the price. The Grizzlies name has been around for a long time in that market.
The Elmore Sports Group also own the Eugene Emeralds, Inland Empire 66ers, Amarillo Sod Poodles, San Antonio Missions and Lynchburg Hillcats.

Teams certainly aren't going to hold their annual Rookie Dinners in Salt Lake City, that's for sure.

I am pretty sure they wou;dn't play at the former Delta Center (now Energy Solutions Arena), so everyone can just relax. They would likely play at the Maverick Center (formerly E-Center for those who have lived there). It has a capacity of 12,600 and is a hockey arena. That would get attendance to rival some NHL teams currently, while they can build a new one for the olympics and the franchise. This was one of the hockey rinks used in the prior olympics held there.

It’s the Delta Center. EnergySolutions was renamed to Vivint and back to Delta Center now. The E Center is now the Maverik Center.

Just FYI, it's now the Delta Center again.

You may be right about the Maverik Center. It's a better building for hockey, but it's not centrally located and the owners of the Jazz may want the NHL team in their own barn.

- It's the Delta Center again.
- They will play there because Smith owns and operates it.
