Google and Reddit tell me it is because of music licensing. Anything that NBC doesn't have international rights for they cut, mostly music.

Thanks, that does explain why they cut the Clinton Hallelujah and ATCQ.

I am still confused though as other shows with musical acts (Late Show etc.) don't seem to have a problem showing full episodes internationally.

Combine this with the SNL youtube channel not being available and it seems like SNL/NBC don't want anyone outside American watching.

NBC is super Nazi about getting their content taken down.

When I lived in Hungary, we used to get all kinds of shows with half the content missing.

Isn't music licensing one of the main reasons why past seasons of SNL are largely unavailable? In this day and age, even companies like Netflix struggle with getting worldwide rights to everything except their own produced content. I can't imagine anyone who was working for NBC on music licenses would have thought to negotiate perpetual or even long term rights at all, let alone outside North America, when SNL was started. The show gets broadcast and it's done -- right? Hindsight.

I'm an ep back, just watched the Chappelle one. Thought it was really good, loved the monologue. Glad he didn't shy away from old Chappelle Show characters in that short either, I was hoping he'd do something like that.

Also, I haven't seen the guy in years, when did he get so jacked?! I'm used to little skinny ass Chappelle!

That was a solid show last night. I actually laughed a lot. The 80s digital short with the candle was amazing.

Leslie Jones was brash as always but funnier than usual

Shawn Mendes isn't exactly my thing, but he was pretty good. Didn't realize he's only 18. Some of his mannerisms reminds me of that one kid from Modern Family

I don't think I will ever stop liking that school play skit with the blocks and Keenan and Vanessa as the main audience members. I think they are hilarious. When Aidy coughed and said, "Well, you guessed it, I have AIDS," I lost it. I think they are fantastic.

Also loved Aidy in the music video about the candle. Loved the wigs in the music video too.

I like Leslie Jones, despite being somewhat one (loud) note. I thought her weekend update was great.

I think Emma Stone is a good host.

I don't know why but the naughty Santa Songs was really well done and it made me laugh.

But the school play was brilliant. The weekend update needs a lot of work.

I agree that Jones' act is getting old but last night she was a lot better than usual, my wife really likes her so I always see it and I didn't mind her. She seemed more real this time, she even laughed at her hands and some of her lines and that added character.

There were so many funny skits, the birth of Jesus from Mary's point of view had me laughing my ass off.

The school drama thing was great, so many good lines. "we're having basketball" " I paid a thousand dollars for those improve classes!" "that wasn't Mandarin, I heard them say dog in Spanish several times"

It's funny that usually the news is the best part but this time the skits were way better and the news was just ok IMO.

Still thought it was one of the better episodes in a while.

I'm a big Leslie Jones fan. I love the sass she brings - even though that's all she brings.

Leslie Jones acting proper is the new Dave Chapelle white guy voice (which was the new richard pryor white guy voice).

Honestly, my favourite Leslie Jones material is when they dress her up in a wig and pant suit or some other similar garb. She can be the cheesiest cheese that ever cheesed.

I was so happy that character made an appearance in the Digital Short when he hosted.

I thought it was a very strong episode. I agree, usually weekend update (and the cold open) are the best parts of any show but the skits were great this week.

I absolutely loved the Christmas candle video. So well done. Huge fan of Aidy Bryant.

Another good show, and Weekend Update was much better. Didn't even mind that country chick.

Beck Bennett is actually funny now.
