Good video. Praises Conroy for the job he's done to date, saying all 3 trades have been wins for the Flames. Also interesting when he says that he heard that Conroy basically went to teams that had expressed interest in Lindholm and told them what the specific price was and they had a chance to beat it or someone else was getting him.
Interesting. From Conroy’s interview on the Fan it seems at least one team was upset they missed out.
This time they might not have believed the price when Conroy gave them an opportunity to match, but next time Conroy does this GMs will know he is serious.

Maybe old Rhett is right that they can still make a run with Kuzmenko and that he elevates their PP.
They’re probably better on the PP with Kuzmenko, but that’ll wash out if they kick Sharangovich to the middle/elevate Zary - 5v5 I think they’re about to get worse.

Except the Lindholm line was already one of their worst at even strength.
Lindholm wasn't elevating them in that situation this year. It could be argued he was a part of the issue this time around because of his horrid possession metrics as well as other underlying stats that were under water.
On paper they'll be worse down the middle, and the PK loses a key player, but the line was already a weakness and it's hard to see it being worse than it was. If there's some honest to god chemistry with Kuzmenko maybe it actually begins to produce. There will certainly be a lot of positional juggling there.
All depends on if they can find stability with a stopgap center (probably Sharangovich).

That's not good enough anymore. They have pushed their chips in; they need to win 2 rounds. And that's going to be pretty hard because they might play Vegas or Edmonton or both.
If the Canucks eliminate the Oilers, that's another big win for Calgary fans. Not a big Canucks fan, but I don't hate the current Canucks roster and another first round exit might be the last straw for McDavid.

I hadn't thought about the PK. This trade gets them down to just one centerman who has been on the PK in Backlund. Dube gone. Does Kadri get put on the PK? As you suggest, Sharangovich may be the way they go as a stopgap, but I wouldn't raise my expectations too high on a guy who would be figuring out a new position at the NHL level.
Classic example of someone getting too lost in the stats. Doesn't actually know how good of a player Lindholm has been for the last several years, and doesn't realize he's been having a statistically off year. I guess the argument can be made that if the Canucks get this year's version of Lindholm, it'll be a bad trade for them. But does anybody on this board really think Lindholm will continue this slump?
We know what a consistent player he's been. The trade status was probably a distraction. He'll round into form quickly, and will be a big add for the Canucks this year.
I dunno, it just kinda bummed me out to hear that guy say Kuzmenko is a better player than Lindholm. Dude doesn't know what a gem his team just picked up.

Trading all of Tanev, Hanifin and Markstrom sure will though
I think of the 4 lindholm was the biggest underperformer. Especially in the last few months.
Yeah if the D is gutted further I see them getting worse. It was scary when we were playing farm hands in the starting six for a bit there. That's just a preview of what could be soon.
Oddly enough I don't see Lindholm --> Kuzmenko affecting things too much by comparison.

Looking like Schwindt is going to get fast tracked into an NHL role between the losses of Lindholm and Dube. Hopefully he's ready for it.
I'm holding out hope for something like that Vladar-Frost proposal (with needed adds).

The Flames will have two NHL-level centermen, neither of whom are a 1st line centerman. I believe it's going to be a pretty rough road for the team. Which will be pretty good for the Flames' own draft position.
