Do any of you actually believe the writers wanted us to think Michonne was the one that died? They don't think any of us are that stupid.
The whole point of that scene was for Rick to think it was her that died and for us to see how he reacted to it.
Sitting here saying "I can't beileve they think we are that dumb" kind of misses the whole point of that part of the scene.

Now that I think back on it, it was the moment that kind of unbroke Rick and was the catalyst for his "what you do changes nothing, I'm going to kill you" speech.
Good point.

Yeah. No way the writers think the fans would believe Michonne died off camera. That was to rile Rick up.
When combined with the other episode where they showed us Michonnes reaction when she thought Rick died you get to see the difference between the two of them.
Michonne was devastated but dropped her guard and looked ready to give up and die too.
Rick was also devastated but obviously not going to give up no matter what.
Its funny because in both instances people were complaining that the writers think we are dumb to try to fake us out like that when its more likely that wasnt their intent at all.

I had to wonder if the dumpster dummies were given strict orders not to kill any of them, under any circumstance. That's the only way it made any sense.
Possible. Would certainly make things more believable. The moment you see Rosita get shot, you can somewhat see the garbage pale people in the background, they don't appear to be unloading on Alexandria people that are standing right in front of them but this was after all the people standing on the wall with Rick and Coral got mowed down. You'd have to think self preservation would kick in.
Maybe the Season 8 premiere will answer these questions.
You would think that thinking Coral was going to get his head bashed in (God I wish that happened) would have achieved the same thing.
I think its just supposed to show Rick at his limit.
Michone is 'dead' and Negan is finally going to kill Carl and the Garbage People betrayed him.
Its that resignation that is supposed to show him resolve that no matter what else happens hes going to kill Negan.
Quite frankly, if the payoff is a no-holds-barred Rick in Season 8 then I'm looking forward to that.
You've got Morgan and Carol killing people again, like the good old days, the way it should be, you've got Rick pulling out all the stops, Carl firing automatic weapons completely out of control, the Kingdom is involved which means Jerry is probably going to have to end some fools, the Tiger is doing what it should have been doing all season and just eating people indiscriminately.
All in all, its looking pretty good.
This show might just end with a Pyrrhic victory, all out war where everyone kills everyone else but just Rick survives but is injured and weak and then some random walker comes by and bites him.
Roll Credits.

I love the king!
But I also love Coral and don't know why he is hated so.
It was annoying when he was a little kid but I think he's grown into an interesting character and legit bad-ass.

Because he doesnt listen to people who know better and screws up everything he does?
Carl really has to get it together. He has been useless for a while now. Hes does these crazy things and it would be better if any of them ever actually paid off.
