Seems like UA and PL are negotiating some kind of grain deal, and the comments are being rolled back. The government there is literal piss (like their party name name suggests), so not surprised with an upcoming election they went down that route in an attempt to rally their base. Absolutely no way in hell a country that has suffered through soviet occupation itself, along with a million + UA refugees, would cut off arms aid like that.
Yikes, this seems like really bad news for Ukraine, no? I've stopped following this invasion for a while now, but wasn't Poland's support a pretty big win for them? I wonder what else brought about this shift from Poland's side, aside from the grain dispute?
I would say this interpretation is overblown. Ukrainian grain is flooding land routes in Europe and Poland's grain industry is affected. The Polish PM said they were stopping transferring Polish weapons to Ukraine, he didn't say Poland would no longer operate as the key transit point for supplying foreign weapons to Ukraine that it has become. Kind of unsurprising Poland would want to maintain its own arms given fears of Russian invasion there also.
A little thought I had was how are mines affected by deep snow? I don't know much about mine tech, is there a chance that winter brings some areas where the snow is deep enough to cross without fear of mines? What about vehicles like snow mobiles?
Sorry Sergey, you would know it if the wests military's were at war with you
Lavrov also suddenly said, that Russia respects Ukraine's 1991 borders, that is with Crimea being Ukrainian, as long, as Ukraine abides its own declaration of sovereignty. In this declaration, he said, Ukraine "promises" to be neutral state and don't participate in military alliances, and also don't have nukes. As far, as I could google Ukrainian sources (lower link below), this claim is somewhat correct, although the language is a bit vague (or so is my understanding of Ukrainian). It says that Ukraine "intends" to be a neutral state, don't join military alliances, and also don't have nuclear weapons. It's not clear whether those words are legally binding.
Regardless, this is the first time some official from Russia, and direct subordinate of Putin no less, talks about respecting 1991 borders. I'm not sure if they realized they lost the war or it is some kind of diplomatic trick.

That's another moving goalpost from Lavrov there and more victim gaslighting. Russia invaded Crimea when Ukraine wanted to establish stronger economic ties with the EU during the 2014 Euromaiden protests, not any sort of military alliance. It's only a year into Russia's second invasion that Ukraine brought up NATO membership.
my guess is none of the idiots knew, they just assumed that as we are friends with Ukraine now he fought for 'us' in the war, dumbassery of the highest order

Or that they'd impress Zelensky by honouring a "true Ukrainian hero" without thinking it through one iota. Someone thought this was a fantastic idea, and they should be removed for having done so.

I'd prefer if they just didn't know vs. something idiotic like ignoring it because they're on 'our side'.
Didn't even one of these morons think... "Wait, fought against Russia in WW2... wasn't Russia on our side in WW2? Weren't the Russians fighting against the Nazis?"
Germans made three political concessions: It was stipulated that the division shall not be used to fight Western Allies, and would be used exclusively to "fight Bolsheviks". The other concession was that its oath of allegiance to Hitler was conditional on the fight against Bolshevism and in the fact that Christian (mostly Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church) chaplains were integrated into the units and allowed to function (in the Waffen-SS, only the Bosnian division and Sturmbrigade Wallonien had a clerical presence). The latter condition was instituted at the insistence of the division's organizers in order to minimize the risk of Nazi demoralization amongst the soldiers.[10][page needed] Indeed, Nazi indoctrination was absent within the division.[11]
Parade of SS Galicia recruits in Lwów (Lviv), German occupied Poland July 1943.
The creation of foreign SS units had been carried out previously in the name of fighting against communism; with French, Flemish, Walloon, Dutch, Latvian, Estonian, Croatian, and Belarusian units, among others, had been created.[12] The creation of a Ukrainian SS division was perceived by many in Ukraine as a step towards the attainment of Ukrainian independence and attracted many volunteers.
So they weren't actual nazis despite the SS denomination, fought only Soviets, and Ukrainians was still recovering from the Holodomor and trying it's hardest to gain it's independence from Soviets. Add to this that Germany directly helped Ukraine in their fight for independence against the Bolsheviks in 1918 and Ukraine volunteering for the Nazis make sense. Germany was initially cheered as liberators
We must of course also consider Babi Yar, which was genocide of Jews in Ukraine.
Yaroslav Hunka was also 18 years old when he would have joined the newly formed volunteer group and his tale can be read below, all he knew was persecution under Stalin and the trains were going East not West, is it really hard to blame him?
