Another profile for today:

Yes, another guy likely off the board before the Flames pick.
As for above, yes Roy and Kylington should be in the Flames wheelhouse.

Here is the final draft order, pending the results of the lottery (which only affects the first overall pick), and the Conference Finalists...
  1. Buffalo (20.0%)
  2. Arizona (13.5%)
  3. Edmonton (11.5%)
  4. Toronto (9.5%)
  5. Carolina (8.5%)
  6. New Jersey (7.5%)
  7. Philadelphia (6.5%)
  8. Columbus (6.0%)
  9. San Jose (5.0%)
  10. Colorado (3.5%)
  11. Florida (3.0%)
  12. Dallas (2.5%)
  13. Los Angeles (2.0%)
  14. Boston (1.0%)
    --------------------
  15. Calgary
  16. Pittsburgh
  17. Winnipeg
  18. Ottawa
  19. Detroit
  20. Minnesota
  21. NY Islanders
  22. Washington
  23. Vancouver
  24. Chicago
  25. Nashville
  26. Tampa Bay
  27. St. Louis
  28. Anaheim
  29. Montréal
  30. NY Rangers

Whichever team wins the lottery will get the first overall pick, but in rounds 2 through 7, this will be the order for the first 14 picks.

The four teams that make the Conference Finals automatically get the bottom four picks in each round of the draft. The Stanley Cup Champion will pick 30th, the runner-up will pick 29th, and the two teams that lose in the Conference Finals will pick 27th and 28th (in the order of their original ranking above).

Unless Calgary makes it at least to the third round, they will pick 15th overall and 15th in every subsequent round.

Right now, the Flames hold their own pick in each round except for the fourth. Plus, the Flames hold Vancouver's and Washington's second round picks as well as Washington's third round pick.

If nothing else changes, the Flames will pick at: 15, 45, 52, 53, 76, 83, 136, 166, 196 (Chicago gets a compensatory pick at 54 for failing to sign Kevin Hayes. That's why the numbers move back one.)

If any of the teams above Washington and Vancouver make the Conference Finals, their picks will move up. If Washington and/or Vancouver make the Conference Finals, their picks will move down.

That's probably the best possible outcome for the rebuilding Flames. Make the playoffs as the very last seed and still get a top 15 pick.

Ya really happy about the 15th seed. Nice to hear. Hopefully Treliving can package some picks to move us into the top 10. Extra incentive to beat the Canucks as well. Keep that pick the same.

it sucks that Boston gets to pick one ahead of us. I just feel like if we're gonna draft a forward, they're gonna draft whoever we had an eye on.

I bet the Flames take Nick Merkley. RH shot who's tearing it up in Kelowna right now. His coach from last year is coaching in Adirondack so the Flames likely have the inside scoop on him

time for some fun

1. Buffalo - C Connor McDavid
No-brainer for Buffalo ... take McDavid if they win the lottery, take Eichel if they lose. Win-win.

2. Arizona - C Jack Eichel
Probably a sure-fire 1st overall in any other draft. Arizona will pray that nobody behind them wins the lottery.

3. Edmonton - D Noah Hanifin
Easy pick after the two centers are off the board. Nurse/Hanifin gives them a good foundation ... if they don't ruin them.

4. Toronto - C Dylan Strome
They desperately need an impact center. Strome has had a terrific seson, is 6'3 already and is an Ontario boy ... perfect match.

5. Carolina - C Mitch Marner
Lindholm-Marner gives them a nice 1-2 punch down the middle in a couple of years.

6. New Jersey - C Mikko Rantanen
They have enough youth at the blueline - time to add a good forward to their prospect group.

7. Philadelphia - LW Lawson Crouse
Flyers took a lot of defensemen recently, so why not pick a forward this time? Crouse would be a good fit in Philly.

8. Columbus - D Ivan Provorov
After using 4 1st rounders on forwards lately, they take a defenseman this time. Flipped a coin between him and Werenski.

9. San Jose - D Zach Werenski
The Sharks need help on the blueline, so they are happy to go BPA here.

10. Colorado - RW Timo Meier
They desperately need a blue-chip D prospect, but with Provorov and Werenski off the board, they take a scoring winger.

11. Florida - C Mathew Barzal
Panthers are happy to add another talented forward to the fold ...

12. Dallas - C Pavel Zacha
... as are the Stars after taking a defenseman last year.

13. Los Angeles - C/LW Kyle Connor
After keeping their pick this year, they take a forward.

14. Boston - D Thomas Chabot
With Chara and Seidenberg aging, adding a talented blueliner isn't the worst idea.

Of the mind the Oilers will pick Marner.

Rumors are they are high on him.

MacTavish believes that his organizational strength is young d-men.

Strome is very similar to Draisaitl.

I am going to die of laughter if the Oilers go for Marner.

Pick the franchise defenseman in Hanifin...

Strome would be a better fit in EDM IMO. They really need to overload their C depth.

If the Oil pass on the dman I could understand doing so to grab Strome. But it is silly if they think they have a guy of his pedigree in Leon.

Depends on who you ask. Kyle Woodlief of Red Line Report says he thinks Draisaitl is a better prospect than Strome.

Strome looks pretty awesome to me. Draisaitl Schmaisaitl.

Re: our draft position, this season has been a homerun in every way. A playoff series & a top 15 pick?!! Everything from here on out is gravy.

Mark Jankowski's brother David is draft eligible this year; he too was a late bloomer, growing from 5'9", 125 lbs as a 15 year old when he joined Stanstead College to 6'1" 155lbs at 17 yrs

Ranked 188th by Central Scouting, but in 10 yrs ...

We can dare to dream, that they will spend the next 2 months talking themselves into what the they feel fits into their current roster, because history has shown that how you have success in the NHL draft.

Didn't the Jankowski Brothers direct the Matrix or something?

Janko's bro might be worth a 5th round pick?

Wow so if he had beat Winnipeg in the last game (passing WPG, PIT, and OTT) we would have dropped three places in the draft order. That is huge.
