Russia's going into social media blackout soon except for official sanctioned Putin puppet heads. Various reports from BBC, Vice, Reuters, etc of Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp being restricted.
Nuclear weapons are a game of brinkmanship. They always have been.
You don’t use them until you have to - especially when your opponent has more of them, and you don’t know where they all are. And you definitely don’t use them first.
An intervention now doesn’t threaten the Russian state. It doesn’t threaten anything but the Russian army.
I don’t think Putin has ever been in this game just to die. And I don’t think his actions are “crazy” - I think they’re hyper rational. I think they’re an enormous gamble. But they’re not crazy.
He’s doing this because he thinks it will work and he can get away with it.
Failing to intervene will make it impossible to denuclearize any other nation via guaranteeing their security.
If you believe Putin is acting rational, what do you think he's looking to gain?
What the United States is doing in Ukraine is at our doorstep,” he said of Washington’s support for Kyiv. “And they should understand that we have nowhere further to retreat to.
I think he's probably cornered politically, no? He has to win this now. If he turns around or fails, he's done.
I find it interesting how easily Anonymous has managed to disrupt Russian government infrastructure, that seems embarrassing for Russia in terms of cyber defense. But maybe they're only getting at things that aren't particularly important or well protected. Still, it would be pretty funny if Kremlin.ru just started running that Zelenskyy speech on repeat.

How could gaining Ukrane make Russia any better? The costs are enormous. War is very expansive. Sanctions are huge. Infrastructure is largely shelled and requires massive investments to rebuild. Population is hostile and dreams of breaking away from Russia and joining West. Ukraine's natural resources are not all that great, if they were, the country would be in better shape to begin with. Other neighbours are rushing to join NATO. All Russia could get is some land. Russia is already the largest country in the world AND in Europe (European part of Russia is larger than any European country, including Ukrane). It would be a net negative for Russia.

Kremlin ru is indeed down, but most Anonymous claims are exaggerated.
Too late for the Olympics but I think Russia should be barred from all international competitions, including the upcoming hockey World Juniors. It's a small thing but coupled with financial penalties it makes a statement.

I thought I read that the Ukraine ranks quite high on several key natural resources (uranium was one).
