Congrats to Webb, most exciting major champ since Stewart Cink.
Not sure if serious? Cink took away what would have been one of the most exciting victories in sports history. ie. Tom Watson winning The Open. Cink winning was awful!

Exactly, I mean everyone, myself included, were pulling for the old man to win, so once it went to the playoff and was clearly over, it was very disappointing for all.

I was rooting for Ernie myself. Its pretty funny that all week the talk about 16 being 670 and today plays 570 and the guys seemed to have a more difficult time with it. McDowell misses the birdie, Ernie and Furyk both bogey it and only McDowell birdies 17. Lots of shots lost on those two holes.

Ya, Simpson winning was kind of anti-climatic for me. I like to see a birdie on 18 win it all (or tie), but thats golf.
That almost never happens in the US Open.
US Open is such an incredible grind and it's special because it's the one tough event every year. But if every PGA event was as hard as this one? Nobody would be watching golf.

Yup, the "incredible shots" always come from the Master's- that what made Tigers third round at the US open in 2008 so incredible. 2 insane putts for eagle and a hole out for birdie (from an awful lie) in the last 5 or 6 holes. Pretty rare at the US Open- and basically what he would have needed today to win... which he could have done with a 66, tie with a 67. But, 4 under at this course in these conditions would be like 8 under at Augusta.
I think Tiger tried to be too aggressive today... same as 2010- was 5 shots behind that year as well going into final round and played too aggressively trying to catch up. Meanwhile, everyone backed up at Pebble and all he needed to shoot was 1 over to win.

I found myself cheering for Ernie too. He played well and has to be looking forward to the British Open at Royal Lytham. He finished 2nd there in 96 and 3rd in 2001. I realize those are a long time ago, but it can't hurt his confidence going back to a course he's done well at.
Hows this for insane? Olympic Club has nearly 40,000 trees on the property. By contrast the 2015 US Open host course, Chambers Bay in Tacoma, has....one.
Links courses do not have trees though. Chambers Bay will be a tough test, the wind will blow there just like in the 2010 Amateur
