Yeah, they are poor for sure. But Thole still only hit .200 in his Blue Jay career, which shouldn't be too hard to replace. But it is also hard for me to look at Jiminez's numbers and just say he was awful. Last year was his first season that he didn't bounce between multiple levels, with the same Buffalo team as Thole in 2015, Jiminez had a better OBP, Slugging and OPS than Thole and last season was an improvement for Jiminez on top of that 2015 season. I see no harm in giving him a handful of games to see how he does at the MLB level. Maybe he surprises us, maybe he doesn't and we pick up a cheap back-up.

Definitely no harm. There's nowhere to go but up from Thole.

I have almost no problem with Jarrod, but man the guy can't stay healthy. If Martin goes out for any prolonged period, they better have a backup for the backup.

Knowing nothing about him, statistically Graterol looked like an offensive improvement on Jiminez and on par defensively.

Nick Hundley to the Giants.
I like his game. Good hitter for a 2C. Not the best defensive catcher but pretty consistent to Thole, Navarro, Salty, etc.
2 million is cheap. I think they plan on spelling Posey at 1B and Belt in LF every once in a while

Decent backup catcher, has some pop, never really thought of him as being great defensively.
I am a little surprised that getting a back up catcher came before improving the bullpen.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Source: Saltalamacchia signing minor-league deal with #BlueJays, $1.25M if in majors, plus $250K in incentives. Deal pending physical.
@Ken_Rosenthal: .@ShiDavidi was first with the news that Saltalamacchia was in agreement with the #BlueJays.

Anything is better than what we had with Thole/Navarro last year. Hopefully Salty can stay healthy throughout the season and give Martin some rest.

I imagine they have been working on both and this is just the one that got done first.

why would you assume that it's a decision to address one first? It's the end of January, they've probably been looking at both pretty hard for months now, this just got done first.

How much 1B has Salty played, is he any good there? I seem to recall him having 1B eligibility in my fantasy league.

No mention of Thole signing a minor league deal with Az? OK I will do it.
Thoughts and prayers Dbacks fans.

I wonder if RA Dickey was getting some sort of royalty from Josh Thole all those years. Thole can thank him for his 6.5M in career earnings.

.. and yet this year, Dickey and Thole are in separate organizations.. almost as if Thole has worth without Dickey..
