Celebrated Square Root Day
|
Autocorrect services that try way too hard to guess words against sentences to the point of autocorrecting real words into other real words. Trying to type about a door knob shouldn't autocorrect into door know. It's so annoying.

When you adjust for inflation, whats the new number? 23-25? Or younger but just more "false starts"?

Back to gear grinding, I mean how many absolute morons/pieces of #### do you come across driving, walking down the street or in the news. It's like the George Carlin quote "think of how stupid the average person is and realize half of them are stupider than that".
I get it, it is socially unacceptable to say anything other than that you are overjoyed and proud of your kids publicly. You gotta justify those decades of time and monetary investment to yourself. But BS, if parents were honest with themselves (or not horrifically stupid themselves) a vast majority would have to be disappointed and horrified as #### haha.

I actually think autocorrect has gotten worse in the last few years.

Thats the real conspiracy. Thats Bill Gates intentionally screwing with us.
"Just gradually make autocorrect worse and worse....those idiots wont know what to do and they never learned to spell! We'll destroy Global communications!!"

Your personal autocorrect actually learns over time and you can go in and delete the suggestions that have gotten messed up at some point. Mine always changes the ng in ing on the ending of a word to = NG. Particularly because Edmonton = NG and I post in there regularly. Thus I leave it.

Duck the ducking duckers! iOS's (on my work iPhone) seems more egregious than the Google keyboard on my (personal) Pixel.

I was going to use this time to change industries and focus on some other things as I had really been unhappy in my current industry. Now I might have to go back to that industry just to make sure we can pay bills.
BTW, if anyone is looking for a Project Coordinator with 10+ years of experience in O&G, engineering, procurement, IT, and quality control, my wife is looking for a new role.

There's a job (or jobless?) thread here where you'll get some responses that may help each of you. At present there are quite a few Engineering consulting companies looking for that "ideal" experience bracket of ~10yrs.

dunno how it happened but we have an actual fly in the house. Must be a record for November to have one. Maybe it needs a different name cos apparently "fakoffbastard" isn't nice enough when it lands on my ear, my head, my food, etc...

What other gear grinders are worth resurrecting....?
- ear and nose hair that subtly tickles; the odd extra long eyebrow hair that droops over your vision
- in November is it ok to wear cargo shorts? zip off legged cargo pants?
- leaves from one neighbors tree mostly blowing into a neighbors yard
- mysterious messes that occur in the house that nobody owns up to making

Eight-hour power outages for maintenance. Don't know if this is normal in Calgary but we just had one here in Sydney from 8am-4pm.

Sydney where?
BC? Nova Scotia? North Dakota? Vanuatu? Australia? You've gotta be more specific!

Well, we've got a left wing government here too now. Isn't anywhere safe from their tyrannical rule?

lol I don't care who runs the place.
Sydney, Australia is still better than any place in Canada.
I only lived there about 6 months, but I loved the place.

Sydney Australia is a world-class City near a warm ocean with world-class beaches. Kind of hard to compare that to Canada
