That's why I'm thinking he could run to replace Chu. Get back on council and show everyone he has changed.
Although, looking at last year's election, he didn't do very well against Gondek in Ward 4, so it could backfire on him to run there and get beaten badly by Kelly.

Yeah, he may be able to keep up this "I hiked, I'm changed!" bull#### for a while, but the weasel will come out of him eventually. This is all PR.

I have a hard time seeing him back in politics, but if he does, definitely not back to the city.
Instead I could see him running for a patronage appointment, err, I mean federal go'vt riding in Calgary.
But I don't know, PR stunt or not, not sure how receptive the conservative market is to him right now.

Would love to see some examples of this, but I have no idea where to look.

You jest, but I wanted to try it. So I went to the Calgary reddit, typed 'Farkas' into the search, and got a bunch of things he'd posted, which gave his handle. Clicked that, and could look at anything he's posted there.
The guy posts a lot.

I guess it's perspective. The stuff from his hike forward goes back 4 search pages, which seemed like a lot, but I didn't bother looking at the time stamps, which is about a year.
Seems like a lot? But I guess it depends on how much the average user of reddit posts.

I think this makes sense for him. Super safe riding, part of his old ward and Bob Benzen is retiring.

Not sure what you are looking at, but here is his post history, he has like 8 or 9 short comments since his hike, not really much: https://www.reddit.com/user/JeromyYYC/
Note that reddit post history includes some "context". His actual comments are the grey hilighted parts.

So what are the odds that Chu actually resigns rather than gets removed by the province first?

Zero, if he hasn't already resigned why do it now? He doesn't really have to do anything as he's been removed from all the committees but he can still collect a pretty good pay cheque. Integrity and morality don't seem to matter so it makes sense for him to hang on as long as possible.

I’d have to imagine the calls for him to resign have to be weighing on him somewhat, like, has his family completely disowned him and not talking any sense into him?
I guess I agree though, there is no upside from his pov to resigning, except to maybe be less in the media spotlight and to give his family a rest from the embarrassment.

It’s pretty clear his political career is over. Resigning just costs him money.

Maybe it’s worth hearing what he actually says at a venue like that? He didn’t write the blurb after all.
I don’t expected a “reformed” Farkas to be a socialist Farkas, I expect him to hold the same core beliefs and political position he held previously but actually try to work with others and not be a completely disruptive dink. I think it’s fair to give him a chance to prove he could be that, and I don’t know what good ragging on him for still being a conservative is going to do.
If we want conservatives to stay away from populism and actually hold reasonable positions that appeal to more than the fringe (which in turn benefits us all) we actually need to give them a chance to do that.

Alberta Proud doesn't give me hope the narrative is balanced. And Farkas should probably know that.
