Paging Browna. He seems to have encyclopedic knowledge of these kinds of things.

Oilers about to jump up into a tie for 26th place if they hang on for the win this evening. And they'll still be 5 points out of a playoff spot.

Cup parade back on!

No?

That would pretty much put his ‘wants to win’ metric in the bottom 1% of NHLers.

I mean if we only had a way to measure team success, without taking into account wins and losses, the Oilers would be at the top of the league.

It is like the movie Elf when Santa's sleigh need people to believe in order to fly. In Edmonton, fans seem to think if we just believe, the Oilers will somehow get their Stanley Cup. They are led by their local media.

I’d draw a distinction between wanting to win and being committed to winning. Of course he wants to win, but is he willing to adjust his game? Improve in his areas of weakness? I’d agree with you that the answer is no, so he has shown no commitment to winning.

The OnLy team!

Holy cow, don't soil your diaper bud.

So starved for attention, they can't stand to give any other team credit. Why are they more poised than the Canucks team that #### kicked them?

Apparently, solid goaltending isn't a requirement for being poised to win.

I think McDavid desparately wants to be considered with the all time greats. I think that is more important that maximizing his salary. He needs to win Stanley Cups, or he gets grouped with Dionne, Iginla, Hawerchuk, Perrault, Stastny, etc..

He will want to sign with a successful team with a bright future. The Oilers fail on both accounts.

I mean, if you want to say 'hey, I think the Oilers are good too, and should be given consideration too', no one is going to think you're an idiot. But when you claim the above, you prove that you are.

Not true. I, for one, will think you’re an idiot.

The narrative has gone from overwhelming favourites (dissent is blasphemy) to plucky little underdogs.

If your D-men suck, is it legal to pull them for an extra goalie? Oilers might want to give this a shot.
