so over the past few months i have been making a more concerted effort to ensure that material i put in my blue bin is clean and remove the labels from glass jars etc.
some products in glass jars have labels that are very tedious to remove. sometimes you need to soak the jars for a while, and in some cases i have used my heat gun to remove labels.
i get why companies affix their labels as they don't want them falling off during shipping on on the store shelf - but goodness, there has to be a happy medium

You don't have to remove labels:
Quote:
Special instructions
- Remove the metal lids and recycle as a separate item in your blue cart.
- Stickers/labels are ok to leave on the glass jar.

If it’s a nice jar or hinged mint tin, we like to keep them for projects, so having a label that’s easy to remove and not be sticky after, would be nice. We have that adhesive solvent, Goof-Off, which works well though.

I get them every 6 months. Insurance pays for them.

Any suggestions on how to maximize my kids chances at getting puck at the shoot around tomorrow? It's his 1st NHL game and he's really excited, and I would love to score him a puck

Hit up Canadian Tire before you go and...how good is your sleight of hand?
"Oh he totally gave you a puck!! Look at that!"

Hey...if you want to guarantee unlikely outcomes sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands.
And...Lie to your kids!!

Sometimes I get a really stiff neck and spend the next three days waiting for meningitis to take me out.

You’d probably go to the hospital with your headache prior to the sore neck settling in.
Ask me how I know…

That said, i make an effort to remove labels, but I'm not killing myself.

Presumably whatever the glass gets used for doesn't need the labels removed. I think glass goes to making fibreglass insulation, so it get crushed and heated. Presumably that heating burns off any tiny amounts of label remaining. If it was an issue, why wouldn't they even suggest best efforts to remove them?

One, two margaritas, my mom is fine. Three? God forbid something reminds her of embarrassing things her kids did, because she loves to whip those stories out and fling them around like a toddler wielding a spear, knocking over lamps, side table, and half the wall-hanging pictures before impaling each of us in the ego (luckily for me my younger brother having diarrhea in the ball pit at Calaway Park when he was 3-4 years old always comes up first)
Four+ margaritas: every single person on the Alberta Pets Rehoming Facebook group is an awful--utterly despicable--person, how could they do that! (it's not a question, it's a condemnation.) Sometimes the emotions are so overwhelming, her eyes will well-up as she scrolls Facebook at light speed looking for that post she saw 11 days ago on her timeline so she can show us this 19 year old dog someone's abandoning
Anyway.. Happy 70th, mom. Hopefully Facebook dies long before you do (I wish I'd gotten that written on a cake)

My wife has wasted so much time in the past trying to perfectly clean off the labels. I don't see the point of going to that effort if you don't have to.
