This is not his fight and there is no sense in creating more trouble. Ovechkin is not a Political Figure, he is just a hockey player.
Agree with your view 100%. This is more about people angry with OV because he supports someone they don't and their desire to see OV (which would lead to his family, which includes seniors and children) be hurt for who he supports. He's come out now since your post and responded perfectly.
The more I read about Zelenskyy the more I admire him. He has the heart of a lion.
I hope Volodymyr "The Lionheart" Zelenskyy becomes a thing.
Courage is contagious.
I have the utmost respect for the Ukrainians right now. Give em hell.

I think it's time to order as much as possible of everything Russian - on seller's credit only.

Ukraine claiming they just shot down a Russian IL-76 with more then 100 paratroopers on board. Would be massive if it is true. NATO weapons shooting Russian planes causing casualties like that is going to make Putin an angry man.
Perhaps the vote results are more about the fact that only the one vote was needed really, and that abstaining allows those countries to not be alignment with the west and still be supporting Russia without voting 'No'? I don't know...
Are we surprised India and UAE abstained? I thought only China would abstain.
Anyone with more knowledge than me care to elaborte?
India has a long standing relationship with Moscow dating back to the cold war days. Basically the USA backed Pakistan and the USSR backed India in those days.
The Russians sells/sold a lot of military equipment to India.
India is in a tough place now, because they also need USA's help to keep China in check with increasing hostility at the India/China border.
So they are trying to keep neutral.
