I wouldn't want to see anything more than a PTO offered at this point for Iginla. If he can keep up and back check then sign him. If he still fancies himself as the #1 winger, then I would avoid him. It would be sad to see him come back to the Flames just to bomb or end up on waivers.
He didn't consider himself a first liner last season, why on earth would you think he would fancy himself one next season?

Maybe not when it came to ice time, but he still had that mentality. He's not a player that dumps the puck and battles in corners while the top line rests. And that is what you need from the bottom six. He still liked to wait at the blue line for passes. It was terrible to watch.

I would be all for this IF we find a way to get Brouwer to waive his nmc and trade him for a couple of pics. Just isn't room in the organization right now for Iggy and Brouwer.

Come on Tre! You've pulled off tougher.
How is there not? We lack an RW with Brouwer in the line-up.
Iggy was arguably the best player in the world around that time, fresh off a 50 goals season.
Captain of the Flames, he throws off his helmet and takes on the other team's 3rd liner, two inches taller and five pounds heavier... and feeds him his lunch.
Incredible the player he was at that time. 50 goal scorer in the dead puck era who loved to drop the gloves and kick a** in a gentlemanly roll-up-your sleeves fashion.

It'd be just as valid to throw out a cliche that Iggy joining the team would be something the rest of the team would rally behind.
You'd have a former captain in the dressing room who would speak up from time and voice a difference of an opnion as to how Giordano is captaining this team. You'd expect Iggy to stay silent but he's human like the rest of us.
Plus he would be the focus of media attention in every city the Flames played in.

You mean like Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton? How did the Sharks ever manage all those years. And I'm sorry, but you have no idea how Iginla will interact in the Flames dressing room.

I really want Janko to make the team this year, but if Iggy takes one of the top 12 spots and we win the cup, I guess I can make an exception this year B)
