So apparently Jesse Puljujarvi was skating on the 5th line in practice and might end up getting cut.
There always seem to be one top 5 pick that takes a while.
Dubois seems to have made the Blue Jackets, while Dal Colle was once again sent to the minors.

If you see that as a compliment you're in the David Staples arena of apologists ... wait are you David Staples?

Jesse doesnt seem to have the offense fans were expecting.
If you look at his draft year he had maybe 30??? points in 50 games in the finnish league. I believe guys like Laine and Mikael Granlund were around ppg. He also wasn't ppg in the AHL. You would expect it from high offense guys. Although I don't think there are many comps there.
So its unlikely that JP has high end first line offence.
I think stats guys used to say ppg or better at age 20 in the ahl suggests top six offence.
So although Jesse is 19 I'd be looking for that kind of production if he ends up in the AHL im order for him to be "back on track"

Said it at the draft and will say it again. He will be a bust.

This makes me happy and sad. Happy that our 2016 pick is far and away better than theirs. Sad that the front office is actually semi-competent.

Don't get ahead of yourself. He was edged out by new toy Yamamoto. He will likely have a decent 10 games, burn the year off ELC, then flatline for 30 games until he's sent down.

Doing a little research, it looks like PL Dubois will make Columbus' opening night roster. So their scouts may have been right with their (then) relatively shocking choice after all.

You might be right, but I really do think yamamoto is the real deal. I was hoping the flames would trade down and grab him.

There have been a lot of questions about JP's hockey IQ and his ability to adopt to the North American Game.
He might possibly be Yak level dumb on the ice.
Wonder if JP blows a spazz and asks for a transfer to Europe.

I'm pretty happy with our pick at 16. At this point, both players look like they're good picks on track to be good hockey players, but they've got one hell of a lot to prove. Edmonton has a history of screwing this exact situation up, so let's see how they do.

Can someone confirm that Yamamoto has made the team?
