I love the dark beers and so far my favorite Stouts/Porters I have tried are Oskar Blues Ten Fidy (4 pack of cans runs $22 at my local store in Red Deer, though), Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Deschutes Black Butte Porter, and La Vache Folle Milk Stout.

Tonight I went with an IPA.

Hey, you still following this thread. I'll be in town the weekend of June 24, and will throw in some Founders Breakfast Stouts and KBS if you don't mind driving out to Chestermere to pcik them up.

Yup I was a beer nerd and went to the "world wide premiere" of it here in Calgary (all 3 parts of it). Its alright, but I got a kick out of people in the audience cheering whenever their company representative/owner showed up on the movie...that and the big boos each time for Minhas brewery...

That is doable and very much appreciated! This works out perfectly as it happens to be my 30th on the 25th.

Tried it last weekend. I loved the hint of Saskatoon berries in it, but the honey made it overly sweet in my opinion.

I might try to clone it at home, but I'll omit the cloying sweetness.

it would make a great lawnmower beer once that's removed.

Fully agree that the honey makes it a bit too sweet for me, but love the berry flavour. And I had the exact same thought when I first tried it that it would be really refreshing when mowing the lawn

Love the sierra nevada torpedo. Ya, Im a bit of a hophead and instinctively go to west coast style ipas, but have really taken a liking to german beers lately- helles, pilsners, and wheat beers. Great summer beers. Anyway, off to Montana on friday for a week of brewery tours and golf. Should be fun.

The Troubled Monk Brewery in Red Deer is not even a year old, pouring their first pint June 12th, 2015. The lack of experience however did not stop them from receiving a silver medal at the prestigious international competition known as the Royal Beer Cup.

1900 breweries from around the world entered the contest with over 6500 beers being submitted for judging. Despite all the competition the Troubled Monk’s American Brown Ale was considered the second best beer of it’s class.
It is a tasty brew of that there is no doubt.

They just putting the finishing touches on a patio as well.

That patio will be one of the better ones in town. So quiet down there. I've been a couple Sunday in a row and they've had one of the guys from St. James Gate playing live tunes(guitar, mandolin). Quite refreshing after a bike ride, too.

Thanks in advance

Ask at the Kensington Wine Market... Their website is good for keeping track of what whiskies they have in stock, I've never tried looking for beer though. Phoning them works well for finding out what's in stock, and if they don't have it talk to them about ordering some, they're really accommodating

Everyone always mentions liquor connect but I think it's terrible. I was looking for a beer for months and ended up stumbling upon it in several differemt random liquor stores. Liquor connect couldn't find any.

Actually, it's giving you the guys who represent it in Alberta, Horizon Beers. You can call them and find out who is selling it near you, or who's carrying it in general
