It’s literally how Vlad celebrates every single home run, spring training and onwards. It’s such a non story but people need to add juice to their Vlad hating narratives.

I don't have an issue with his celebrations at all.
But from a team construction point of view paying a 1fWAR 1B $20MM is probably not a good idea.
I think it might make sense to trade Vladdy at the deadline. I think you'd get decent prospects/young players for him on name recognition alone. Then use his $20MM to go shopping in free agency.

Wasn’t that just an arbitrated contract though? The Jays had no choice but to honour that number?
Also it is evident that building a team via free agency if you’re the Blue Jays is not the easiest path. There have been some wins lately but the development team has to do a much better job of sourcing cost effective talent.
We can’t rely on good players choosing to come to Toronto. We have to draft and develop them.

Then they better hurry up and fire Atkins. I mean would he really be the guy that you'd want making that deal? Not to mention that I wouldn't really want to give the guy who constructed a 2x luxery tax paying roster that can't hit an extra 20M.

I dunno, he built a team that consistently wins around 90 games and makes the playoffs despite the core players not living up to their billing. If the core players were actually stars it'd be closer to a 100 win team.

I dunno... I'm not altogether unconvinced that if you shot a nerf dart into a crowd of random MLB executives and gave whomever it hit the 4th highest payroll in in the league that they couldn't do better.

Sure, the Blue Jays lost arbitration with him, but they're still paying him $20MM. Also, they're allowed to decline to offer him a contract, which makes him a free agent but removes the risk of being stuck overpaying someone. I think he'd still have positive trade value, so I don't think releasing him makes any sense. I'm not saying trade him for a 40 year old pitcher, I think you'd want to try and get younger to re-tool/reset the window for this team.
Fair point about FA being risky/difficult for the Jays. I think it's also possible to use that extra money in the trade market - grab someone whose team is looking to cut costs (eg Padres) and you might be able to effectively spend that money without a bunch of trade capital.

They probably couldn't do better if at the same time they got the OK for the payroll increase pretty much all the core players turned into dogcrap and unproduced their projections by roughly 8-10 WAR

This is why I could see him being released if he has another 1 WAR season and nobody wats to trade for him. And why would anyone want to trade for him unless they thought they had a sure fire way to fix him?

Why can’t the Blue Jays draft a hitter to save their lives ?
And they aren’t much better at developing pitchers
Even the guys they trade end up stinking .
The biggest issue is their complete inability to develop …. Anything in the last 7 years

Yikes, that crowd doesn't have a single extra cheer to give in any situation today. And they're dragging this out sooo long.. trying to cram too many things into it.

At the game and they have stats up. 34 pitches against the jays, 28 strikes. Swinging at everything.

This seems like an issue, geddy can't see over the guy in front of him. That wasnt a problem with the old seats.
Geddy keeps shifting his head left and right around the guy.

Hey! I'm here! It's actually not that bad in here at the game. People are having a good time and Jays are up! Can't complain!
