There are teams that are trying to tank and teams that are accidentally tanking and I certainly would rather be a fan of a team who sucks by design than one who think they're a contender when they aren't.

Let me rephrase: I'd rather be a fan of a team that can read the writing on the wall and start the teardown process early and properly than be a team that is constantly trying to contend when they aren't even close.

I am not saying it's a 100% pathway to success, but the current state of the Canucks where you don't move expiring assets for youth or draft picks and spend assets to acquire depth players is probably not going to win a Cup any time soon either.
