Personally, I thought it was excellent and much, much better than COTA. NASCAR road racing always felt a little gimmicky with the old cars, but this new one is much better at road racing (funny enough it sucks at turning left on ovals).
Stage breaks need to die, the road races have proved that beyond doubt. It adds nuance to the race strategy that was messed up with pre-determined caution periods.
You can love NASCAR or hate it, but you have to give them credit for trying new things. Some of them are working (Chicago, All Star Race), some are not (Bristol on Dirt, plate racing at Atlanta) and some are still to come (rain tires on ovals*).
*Yes I know that the trucks used rain tires at Martinsville, but the track was already drying. I want to see rain during a race, throw the caution, have the teams change over and back to racing.

Not gonna happen, it's way too dangerous. the rain tires are just there to speed up the return to racing, you don't need people hydroplaning into walls at 150. The physics of oval racing and lack of runoff areas just don't work for wet racing.

The wet weather package is only used on ovals less than 1 mile in length.

Right, forgot that. Still no run off's and hard walls in the turns so same issues with trying to run in full wet conditions.
I get defensive when I hear over and over people saying nascar should run in the wet, they are crappy racers cause they don't run in the rain, etc, etc. I race oval track and moisture is a nightmare, even a light rain can make the track undrivable, the wall doesn't move and it hurts to hit it, both to the body and the wallet.
It's just a different style of racing and people need to accept that.

My all time favourite driver...and it's not even close. Still get moved seeing bios, old races, wins etc on Greg Moore. This one hit me in the feels. I still vividly remember the day he passed, Oct 31 99.
I remember how many great Canadian drivers there were in late 90s, Moore, Tracy, tagliani, Carpentier, Villeneuve.

I loved watching the Canadians back in the CART/IRL days. Moore and Tracy were my favorites and both were very different drivers. Moore was the better driver and probably more skillful but Tracy was aggressive and getting his nose dirty or bumping wheels and he was more fun to watch from that respect.
EDIT: The Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course now features Shane Van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki, Jenson Button and Kamui Kobayashi.

I wish they'd use the F1 layout. The Cup one is Roval bad.
