Getting a pizza -- what's the best topping combo?

The sweetness and acid are great accompaniment to salty and greasier flavours. Also pineapple pairs very well with pork, which accounts for a large number of pizza toppings. Adds great contrast and balance to the pizza. Plus I think it tastes delicious alongside the cheese and tomato and brings the pizza to a whole other level.

I must be the only person who hates pineapple on pizza. I just find it makes the whole pie too sweet. I'm sweet enough, thanks.

I'm a pizza minimalist, ham, pep & extra cheese and I'm good. Accidentally ordered the Tuscan pizza at BP's one time though which surprisingly was great, I give it a tip of the cap.

...oh and cold Nitza's donair pizza is great when nursing a hangover.

Nope. And I know many people who hate it as well. Might as well put fricken' strawberries on a pizza. I never, ever got putting fruit on a pizza. Ruins it IMO.

"Technically" any pizza with tomato sauce or tomatoes on it has fruit. Technicalities aside, I do agree that fruit on pizza is lame.

I love the idea of pineapple. I think it smells awesome and when I bite into it, it tastes good, but something about it makes my mouth just want to reject it with every fibre of my being.

I once explained this to someone, and they claimed that most people who dislike pineapple are actually allergic to it to some degree. I never really cared to look up their claims, but I suspect that it might be the case for me.

So you are most certainly not the only person who hates pineapple on pizza.

edit: On the topic of GOOD pizza combos, I love BBQ chicken at Papa Johns - Chicken, Bacon, Onions, and BBQ sauce.

A local pizza joint here offers habaneros as a topping choice. That with onions, ground beef and cheddar cheese would be amazing.
