You know what's even better than only having 2 natural centers dressed? Only having one.
Despite everything, the Flames will win, because a winning streak will delude management into thinking the team is better than it is, and finishing in 9th place is the absolute worst possible scenario that they will somehow manage to achieve.
I think the Flames will pull one out here tonight, they are upset.

for whatever reason backlund is sitting, roman is playing.
why theyre sitting backlund is beyond me..
Who knows with Hartley. Backlund may be down for maintenance or it could be Hartley doing what he does which is make you scratch your head and wonder what he's thinking.
I've been a believer all season. Even looking at the standings and seeing that a win puts the Flames within 4 (with a game in-hand on most) makes me want to still believe. I would love nothing more than to see this team catch on fire, squeak into the playoffs, and go on a run.
Then I put on my rational hat and say,
1. This team was completely dominated by a true contender (LA Kings) every time.
2. This team lost 2 "must-win" road games against below average teams after having all of the moment in the world.
3. There are some very quality prospects in the top 5 this year.
Of all people, I'm starting to feel bad for Hartley. Only now does he understand the depth of the problems he is facing, and before he can find his way out he may be out of a job.
I always hope for a win, but I sadly now don't really care if they win because I don't think it will help. One win and four more loses to follow seems the most likely scenario.

Reminds me of Brent Sutter's famous f me gif. The point when a coach realizes this team has destroyed his chances at continuing an NHL coaching career.
Randy Sportak@SUNRandySportak1m #Flames have Iginla with Hudler and Cervenka in warmup. Comeau with Tanguay and Cammalleri. Other two lines same. Backlund out.
Randy Sportak@SUNRandySportak1m #Flames defence has Cory Sarich on third pair with Derek Smith. Brodie with Bouwmeester and Giordano with Wideman.

Mike Rogers just said he's not good enough to play at 80 percent, he needs to be 100% to use his explosive stride etc.
Edit: I'm glad Butler isn't in tonight. Give Sarich some games to bring up his value, move him to a team that can use him and hope he enjoys success somewhere else.
