Watch him sign with someone else now.
Who in the organization is supposed to vet the contractual minutiae? Wasn't that Conroy at one time?

And how does the agent miss that as well? It might not cost anyone anything but I know I’d get fired for something like that.

Not sure how someone in the organization misses that. That's embarrassing.

We are a joke of an organization. A bunch of guys on a hockey board know more about the rules than our GM.

Maybe Conroy hoped the agent wouldn’t notice and he’d get a cheaper deal out of it.

Who on CP caught this before the league did?

This is embarrassing any way you slice it. I know some people will say it's not a big deal but it really is.
As an organization someone needs to catch this. We need to hire better qualified people to help Conroy so this never happens again.
If this was the Oilers we'd rightfully make fun of them.

It's a rage culture ... get mad and quick!
I'm sure whoever's job this is internally is feeling embarrassed.
I'm sure the agent (or his staffer) is feeling embarrassed.
But I'm not sure I've ever been or worked in a mistake free work environment. Crazy to jump all over people for simple mistakes at a moment's notice, especially when they cause exactly zero damage.

I bet it's Dave Nonis's fault.
That, or that new "Assistant to the General Manager" ... what's his name?

I'm not sure if it really matters.
I believe the biggest difference between an ELC and an SPC is a standard contract can't contain performance bonuses, which this one doesn't appear to do anyway.
I took a quick skim of the CBA and there are a few other small things, like a player on an SPC can't be sent to the ECHL without consent and some other travel and rooming rules.
I don't think it will prevent him from joining the Wranglers this season on an ATO, but it might.
Mostly, I'm sure it just requires them to fill out the right form and re-filing it.
