^ Right? You have choice. Isn't that what everyone whined about when it came to cable/satellite? Being force fed channels you didn't want?

So will this be an add-on cost to Amazon Prime, or included in the base fee?

I know but MNF does very well up here too. I believe TSN routinely beats SN on that night but I could be mistaken. But to your point I do suspect that because viewership was low and they could recoup some money they sold this off.

Canadian rights are up at the end of 2025-26 I think. Wonder if they make a play then.

The NHL should just do it's own MLB.TV style service. Charge $200 per season. Include all games from all teams. Target 10 million worldwide subscribers. $2 Billion revenue per year.

NHL.TV is exactly that and available in most non-North American markets. Unless my sarcasm meter is broken.

Sure. But doesn't Sportsnet+ get you all the games?

MLB.tv only works like that for us in Canada because Toronto agreed to allowed their games on it. In the US it has all the blackouts, etc that we have in Canada for the NHL.
Sportsnet Plus Premium is $250 for the year and gets you every NHL game minus the odd blackout for games on TSN (plus WWE network, etc)

Yes, that's what I want the NHL to replace with its own in-house service versus assigning it to Rogers and ESPN/Disney

The Gold tier or whatever does currently, the basic still has regional and national games only

Ah, didn't know that. Being an overseas fan I've never had to deal with blackouts.

NHL Live (NHL.TV for North America) used to provide all the games and did a pretty good job of it. Sportsnet took over the service in Canada a year ago and stripped many of its most enjoyable features away.
For example, we used to be able to choose between the home or away feeds. Not any more.

I can just imagine trying to go to a bar and watching the games with your friends. I don't see this adding quality to existing fans, maybe I am wrong?
I also think this is kinda sad for some of the older generation or people who don't have the level of funds to add to this experience. Making things harder to watch, having to buy more and more for sports and hockey specifically.
I know a lot of people talk about the benefits for a lot of things these days but truthfully it's the big fish that are the winners, not the sardines like us.

For older people I don't think its funds so much as technophobia.
Even at its highest tier, SN+ averages out to what, $20 a month?

For me it's more of some of the hassle. Older people a lot of times just have cable so TSN/SN included. They probably have internet but now it may be a Amazon Prime sub, is the modem up to standards to broadcast games? Do they have wifi or an internet connected TV/Amazon Fire stick.
Not all older people have issues with tech, but plenty do. Heck I am in my 30's and I still can't get a straight answer on how I can get Prime on my Firestick from my brothers account since we live in the same house but now I will need to figure it out.
Sounds like we are making things more difficult for everybody as opposed to easier.
Edit: Sounds like we are saying the same thing, I read your message wrong! Sorry
