Well, this ain't good. (Why would you need a credit card for a TV to work?)

13:00 Roku TV's requires credit card information (I guess you can try to do a work around). Rolls out new terms of service. Turns out they were hacked, accounts sold online.

Been running LG C series so far, but the G3 MLA is a sweet upgrade for sure. 40%+ increase from 65 to 77 is more than worth it.

LG OLED's on sale at Bestbuy and Costco right now. The G3 77 is still cheaper at London Drugs but great options all around.

The G3 has MLA (excluding the 83 inch model) which raises brightness so I was willing to go that route at the 77 inch size.

Fair enough. Looking at a new TV for the living room for when renos are complete. A fairly bright room so looking at that as an option

Looking at

Sony XR65X93L

Samsung QN65S90CAFXZC

and LG C3

All similar price. The Sony and Samsung appear to have great rtings. Song not OLED though

I just bought a 65" Samsung S90D - the 65" was the same price as the 55", and was the same price as the S90C. Looking forward to getting it delivered and set up!

What did you end up with? Are you set up?

I really want an OLED but my room has huge windows across from where the TV will be.

I currently have a frame there and it is fine. I have sort of convinced myself I need an LED for brightness but then I walked into Costco yesterday and they had the OLED set up in the entrance and it looked fantastic, even under the warehouse lights?

I would really appreciate any advice anyone could provide. I suppose I could always get the oled at Costco and test run it for a bit to see how it performs in real world conditions and settings.

I assume OLEDS also have 'display' mode for in the stores to blow out the picture?

thanks.

The current generation OLED panels, especially Samsung's QD-OLED, have significantly improved brightness compared to even a few years ago (2024 Samsung flagship QD-OLED vs 2021 Sony flagship OLED using LG's White OLED panels ):

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/comp...ld=0.10#test_4

They're still well behind mini-LED LCD TVs for brightness but it most daytime situations it might be enough as long as the sun isn't shining directly at it. Most media, even the highest quality movies also generally don't run at high brightness for the entire screen.

And if you watch it at night, an OLED's panel ability to display very dark scenes with intensely bright spots gives an impact that can only be matched by the very best LCD TVs (like the Sony Bravia 9).

I ended up getting a Samsung QN65S90. I havent had a chance to set it up yet as renovations are still not finished.

I opened it up and turned it on to check everything on delivery. It looked good in the room with the lighting. The wafer-thinness really had me worried putting it back in the box to store.

I got it on sale through bestbuy. I think it was about $2,200

I think I am going to go with the S89c which is the 77" and I guess it is the same as the S90C but a Best Buy model number.

Not only that but the G series also includes a heat sink which prolongs the life of the screen and helps avoid burn in.

Always find it a bit odd that burn in on televisions is still being discussed in 2024. What are you guys doing that leaves a static image on the screen?

Oh for sure burn in is a less concern now then it ever has been. Still the heat sink will help with extending the life of the panel, the less heat on the organic material in OLED's the better.

Got my eye on an LG C3. It's tax time here and I just got a nice refund but not sure I can justify replacing my four-year-old Samsuing QLED that's still going as well as the day I bought it.

One of the bad things about this new tech is that everything lasts so long. It was great 15-20 years ago looking for TVs, Laptops, Desktops every 3-4 years.

Now I totally forget Memory Express or Best Buy even exists.
