Tossed in the Xbone thread but here is a comparison as well:
Spoiler!
That's actually kind of annoying. I like stacking my AV components where possible. First, the PS3 had that stupid Foreman Grill rounded top on it, so it could ONLY go on top, now it's too damn small, yet it's so deep that it overhangs front/rear of the Xbox.
We've already come right out and said we're not going to allow online pass. And the word "allow" is key there. Specifically with online, with PS+ requiring a charge to play online, we would not want any publisher [to charge.]
In general, we're all businesses. Sony or Microsoft is never going to be able to tell EA or Activision exactly what they can do. What we like to say at PlayStation is that we set the precedent. The way we are approaching this is that we want this to be extremely consumer-friendly, extremely retailer-friendly, and extremely publisher-friendly. My personal opinion is that it's hard for me to believe that any major publisher is going to put an extra set of used DRM onto game titles because that wouldn't put them in a good spot, right?

I think his personal opinion has never used a game put out by EA, Ubisoft or Rockstar in the last 5 years.
The only thing that has ever bothered me was the always-on light.
Anywho, getting a PS4 for sure. With GTA 5 and the new Batman game I'll probably wait until after the holiday season but too much weird stuff going on with Microsoft to continue down the xbox route.
Just pre-ordered the PS4. Also got Rocksmith, Batman, and Infamous all for $40 each for it....Worst case scenario I'll cancel. $40 for brand new games for a brand new system seems like a steal. Off-sets some of the cost of upgrading the old unit.
Plus if I have a PS4 and a PS3, I'll have no choice but to buy a new flatscreen for the upstair room, in order to have both set up at once....almost makes too much sense.
Moving onto the gamers themselves, specifically the #PS4NoDRM campaign, Adam was actually in a meeting with Jack Tretton when it was trending, and he got on his whiteboard, putting “here’s the world, here’s what we’re leaning towards right now, and here’s the feedback, so we’re leaning in that direction, let’s just lock it in.” They had always intended to not include DRM, used games restrictions, etc, but those things factored into the conversation.
The PlayStation Plus service will remain the same price at the launch of the PlayStation 4. SCE America VP of Publisher & Developer Relations Adam Boyes confirmed to Joystiq during a roundtable that the price will remain $50 annually in North America. Boyes also said "all video services [on the PS4] will be outside of Plus," meaning that services like Netflix and Hulu won't require Plus.
Online orders are also being split out by by some stores as "Day One" editions. Sounds like it is stock that they anticipate having ready on release versus a few days after that?
