Simona Halep with a strong showing today but ultimately loses in 3 sets. I'll be rooting for her in her comeback journey

Shapo finds himself in a 3rd set with Luciano Darderi - Denis just broke and is serving at 2-1 in set 3.

That one break of serve was all Denis needed to seal the win in set 3 taking the match 6-3 6-7 6-4. Some nice tennis from Shapo today especially in set 3. Here's hoping he can string a few matches together.

Denis gets Oikos next which won't be easy, but Stef isn't exactly playing great tennis these days either. If he can limit the double faults and pressure Stef on the backhand especially, I certainly give him a chance to pull off the upset.

Felix is warming up for his opening round match in Miami and he has a fresh hair cut.
Edit: Plenty of good seats available for this match, the Coyotes are drawing more fans lol
Edit 2: One game in and suspended due to rain.

Go Felix! I'm hoping to have a Canadian to cheer for in week two.

He's looking pretty good today, but that's the thing right, you just don't know these days which Felix is going to show up.

For the last year it's been mostly bad Felix unfortunately. I'm just hoping for him to go deeper into a tournament as he needs to get more matches under his belt as it's hard to get back into the swing of the tour after an extended layoff. Look at Berrettini. Guys like him and Shapo can't even take out a 36 year old Andy Murray these days after layoffs.

That just now was a fine return game by Felix earning him a break to serve for the match at 5-4 in set 2.
Edit: Serves it out in style to love. Next up is a date with Zverev.

In yesterday's match, I also noticed that the racquet tip dip was not as severe as well as he starts coming forward on his backhand. His backhand will likely never be that great, but if he can simplify that swing, it can certainly be more reliable and accurate.

what the hell is that 2023 position? I know everyone's biomechanics are different, but it just feels like the answer is really simple...copy Djokovic's swing

Or Sebi Korda's backhand if you want to go with a contemporary.

Just heard that all the men's matches are cancelled/postponed, but they're going to try to play the ladies matches.

Leylah won her match in straight sets earlier today and Shapo remains up a break versus Oikos.
Edit: Make that up a double break as Denis is serving at 5-2 in set 1.
Edit 2: Shapo consolidates to take the opening set 6-2. Way too early to get excited though.
