Even despite the basically 24/7 close-up of Tom Brady's face since the win the past two days on every sports channel, I still can't stop smiling about that choke job. HOW?? How do the Falcons lose that game?? I love it and I don't even understand how that big of a collapse that late in a game - the Super Bowl!!! - you completely DOMINATED can happen.
Unreal, I think I'm still in shock about how the last 20min of that game played out
I taped the replay on the NFL network and watch the fourth quarter during the first and second intermission of the flames game today. It was amazing to me how many things the Falcons have to screw up and how many things had to go the patriots way for them to win.
Way too much of a simplification to blame it on one thing, one play or just the coaching or Brady etc.
I swear there were at least five or six different times that I thought to myself the patriots have lost the game for sure.
i wasn't sure I would ever see a bigger choke job than the Seahawks-GB game in the NFC final a couple years back as GB couldn't have shot themselves in the foot anymore than they did, but this one tops it

The most egregious (or glorious depending how you look at it ) choke job of all time is still this:

Their defense did stink all year. I mean all they need is a defense to be in the middle of the pack statistically, and they would be unstoppable. You can have the greatest offense in the world, but if you can't stop the other team from scoring, it almost cancels everything out.
One final thought after seeing both the Grey Cup and Super Bowl go to OT. The CFL has a far superior overtime format.
Nothing against the Patriots win though. The NFL OT is still a great improvement over their previous version and if your defence can't stop a team driving the length of the field for a TD when it matters most you don't deserve to win.

I'd argue for that reason that the NFL is better since it stays true to regulation time football. Still got work your way the whole field up to get the touchdown in the first drive. If you want a chance to win the game, do a good enough job on defence first.

Good point, but I'd argue the only way to stay true to regulation time football is to play an entire half. Clearly not practical after teams have put their bodies on the line for 4 quarters already however. Maybe some combination of the CFL and NFL systems would work. Make them go the length of the field but also give the 2nd possession team a chance to match or beat every score.

For regular season, I can see why a format is chose based on a compromise of fairness and tv time allotment.
For the Super Bowl, its not my favourite.
I'm not a fan of the cfl because they start too close. A fg shouldn't basically be a gimme. And I hate mandating that teams go for two. But starting too far out would extend game time and TSN wouldn't like that, neither would viewers of the game getting preempted.

Yeah this. If the QB gets sacked on the first series of the first possession, the game is basically over. They're out of FG range, so the other team will just go out and kick a FG on the first play - or just do 2 junk inside run plays up the middle to line up the spot - since where they start is already in range. Starting somewhere between from your own 40-55 yard line would be ideal.
