Loved when they played this on TV when I was a kid.

They had the beer gardens right underneath the +15's one year. My bro and I streaked it after about 40 pints on a hot summer day. Oh to be young and foolish again.

The 1980s Calgary Flames forming a softball team every summer that barnstormed around southern Alberta playing charity games. I definitely remember a rainy, miserable evening at some crappy field in Airdrie watching Al MacInnis, Lanny McDonald et al taking on the Airdrie RCMP/Fire Department in 87 or 88.

Triple whammy:

Nintendo Power magazine, the Power Glove and the 'Macho Man' Randy Savage (the man who gave himself in the 2011 Rapture so that the rest of us may live).

Disney's Recess, while a kid's show, was actually very well written. I watched a couple episodes a couple years ago and the storylines and dialogue were very intelligent and really did personify a modern day social hierarchy which is the exact premise of the show. Many professional / real world undertones.

If anyone has a chance, I highly recommended downloading some episodes whilst surfing Pirate Bay... er, I mean, through legal means.

This show changed my life - introduced me to music I wasn't hearing on the Radio. I'd love to see the old episodes again, but maybe they are lost forever? I'm dating myself, because I remember them reviewing the new Roxy Music album, Avalon. I think the first music video I ever saw was Tommy Gun by the Clash.

FM Moving Pictures on Shaw, with Mike Bezzeg, and sometimes James Muretich:

http://bathtubdreamer.com/2007/06/23...anks_to_james/

James had a hand in shaping my musical development – as he did for many young music enthusiasts in Calgary in the early 1980s – through the weekly community cable television broadcast FM Moving Pictures, which he co-hosted with Mike Bezzeg. They played videos from bands like Ultravox and XTC when music videos were still a relatively new development – MuchMusic didn’t begin broadcasting until 1984. I was just starting to break out from my parents’ folk roots and trying to figure out my own musical tastes, and this clinched it for me.

Those old plastic/Rubber WWF action figures and the ring. Those were the best things ever.

Plus:
GI Joe
Care Bears
Street hockey from sun up to sun down

And I still remember my dad taking me to the local hockey rink in the summer to watch Stampede Wrestling.

And these things:
