Just grabbed tickets to go and see Stephen Rannazzisi on November 22. Don't know his standup at all but I love The League so I figured for $30 it'll be worth the risk to see one of the main guys do some standup. For those of you who don't know he plays Kevin on the league.

The new Aziz Ansari special on Netflix is surprisingly good. Way better than any of his previous material.
I liked Aziz's last special. That said Burried Alive is excellent.
I really wish we had access to all the standup that's on the American Netflix.
In other standup news, just picked up tickets for my dad's birthday for the Ron James. It's a month away but should be good. He usually brings his A-game when performing for his hometown.

I love Patton Oswalt. He's can go from intelligent to crass in a heartbeat and all of it is funny. Not to mention his level of nerdosity is the highest in the modern entertainment world. See the outtake from Parks and Recreation where he goes off on the possible plot for Star Wars.
Anyways, here's one of my favorite performances. Definitely a lot of language, so for sure NSFW.
NSFW!

TJ Miller is really good IMO, he's definitely very riff based and sometimes comes off kinda arrogant, but is really creative and always must watch.

I was a bit disappointed by Norm MacDonald last night. It was good, but it was about 30 mins too long, and he rambled a bit too much.
Sean O'Connor opened for him, and KILLED it though. That guy was sooo funny.
Ditto, Sean was hilarious and just nailed the performance. Wouldn't say Norm was disappointing, but his set was a little uneven, and he certainly didn't top Sean's set. I feel like Norm finished really strong, but there was a few periods of just straight up rambling.

Went and saw Danny Bhoy last night. I hadn't seen much of his stuff before, but the gf was a fan. Pretty funny, but Bill Burr was more my style (and funnier). Bhoy was playing at the Jack Singer, and my god, talk about night and day venue compared to Mac Hall.
Also I don't know if it's because the crowd was older or what, but shut the hell up people. Let the man do his show. Just so everyone knows shouting, talking, whistling is rude, the comedian doesn't like it and everyone else doesn't like it either.

I saw Danny Bhoy when he was in Moncton. I really enjoyed him, he's more my wife's style and she was in tears.
Danny Bhoy is more of a sarcastic wit, Bill Burr is more of an intelligent rant. One isn't better than the other, just different.
I loved his Dear Epson show, thought it was really well done. Might have been the structure, and how he still had surprises and good call backs.
I wish there was more standup out here, alas my community just doesn't support it

Funny 1060 is a shared stream that many other comedy stations use (24/7 comedy). It's actually not too bad and is pretty similar to comedy stations throughout the US. I like that they have a guest comic host every week and play material by smaller comedians, the local guys that come in during breaks arent great though.
I saw Jon Lovitz a few years back and he was actually really funny live.
Just watched his new special on Netflix. Pretty good!
Comics I want to see come back to Calgary:
- Louis CK (saw him last time he was here)
- Joe Rogan (saw him last time he was here)
- Tom Segura
- Ari Shaffer
- Joey Diaz
- Doug Stanhope
- Jim Jeffries

Countless times I have pulled into my driveway and sat in my car waiting for the bit to be over and then another comedian comes on that I like and I sit there until the bit's over and another comedian comes on I like….
