To briefly play devil's advocate... changed, not ruined. HIV in the modern western world is not the death sentence it once was. It's not a disease I would wish upon my worst enemy, but you can still live a very long and fulfilling life.

Yet can still be a death sentence with everyday you being scared that this disease you have might get worse and you could die any day.

The fear might be worse than anything.

They are in Edmonton... Their lives already are ruined.

But yeah, brutal. And obviously this chick is enough of a problem that authorities were able to bypass the YOA.

Its still a fairly lethal and debilitating disease that forces people to take expensive drugs for life and changes nearly everything about their life style. while it might not be the death sentence it once was, it will still eventually kill you, and because of the stigma of aids, it ensures that your life is not going to be quite as fulfilling as it once could have been.

What this girl did and to an extent these other "gifters" is equivalent to poisoning someone.

Oh yes, this sort of #### is beyond evil. There's no denying that; there's a special place in hell for this individual.

I'm just saying that 'ruined' is subjective, for a few valid and insensitive reasons...

1. This may encourage some of these people to make the most of the time they have.
2. If you're sleeping with that chick, realistically, how 'fulfilling' was your life really gonna be? The kind of guy who hooks up with this girl is likely some poor sod who will end up swinging a hammer for 30K a year until he's 65 before retiring on a 50,000 dollar nest egg if he's lucky, and cash CPP cheques for the next 5-10 years while he waits for death. I know, it's assuming a lot.
3. Our planet's population is rapidly approaching 7 billion, if it's not there already. We need people to die. It sucks for it to happen this way, but not everyone gets to live forever, and life is honestly something you kinda have to earn. And maybe you not being able to have kids and dying at around 40 will result in more people not hooking up with strangers without a condom.

Anyway. Carry on.

I think actually contracting HIV from unprotected sex with an HIV positive person is in 1/500 or so if I remember correctly. So, while still scary and messed up, it's not like everyone she has sex with will get it. A few will though, depending on how fast she goes through them.

It's definitely harder to catch it from a female to male rather than vice versa. Just the same, evil bitch personified.

There are no words for this.

No wait, there are. In the constitution.

You may want to re-word that statement....

As far viruses go, HIV is actually really difficult to get. You have to do everything wrong, and even then, the chances are pretty small that you will get it. Of course, that is little consolation to people who actually do get it... and make no mistake, people contract it all the time... mainly because people are stupid.

I'll admit that I actually had an HIV scare before. I hooked up with my old high school girlfriend years ago for a one-night stand. She seemed like the same girl I dated in highscool and it was one of those situations where you feel like you know the person despite not seeing her for years. What I didn't know was that she was working as an escort and was a heroin user. About a year after hooking up I got a letter from her telling me that I should get an HIV test. For the next 18 months, I was a wreck. Anytime I felt a little sick, I was convinced that I had AIDS. I tested negative after 18 months and I was finally satisfied that I was clean and I have been carefull ever since. The whole time though, the doctor kept trying to reassure me that the chances of getting the virus were actually really low. He almost thought it was funny that I was so freaked out.

I don't envy anyone in that situation.

Thankfully that gas coupon didn't show up for Option84 to get up to Edmonton to be able seduce her with a bottle of Fresca...saving us from anther "this chick's a scammer/buyer beware" thread disaster.

Do we really need the warning?

I think I'll need liberal amounts of this to keep that image out of my head.

Yeah, this is actually a pretty terrifying story. HIV infection is as high now as it was in the early 90's among certain communities. The drug cocktails make the infections less obvious, but no less painful or difficult to deal with.
