He's been lapping up Edwards ballsac for a long time. He wouldn't have the cash for a majority anyway. Gotta get in the door. I imagine they'd require him to keep his trap shut a little more like the current ownership does.

I bet Bettman wouldn't be approving someone that outspoken either.

Wish valuations over time were communicated in equivalent currency. It's annoying doing math based off 2002 dollars vs 2024. Just say "in 2024 dollars the flames increased by a value of 235% since 2004." (Numbers not accurate.) It's easy to do the math for 1 thing but when you start getting into multiple factors it's exhausting.

Typically lawyers provide at least a bit of counsel.

Not sure about ownership but I’ve heard they’ll have a new President (not hockey ops) soon

That would be replacing Bean, correct? I can't keep track of all the different titles.

He's still listed as a part owner of the Preds. And he's been seen in suites at the Dome festooned in Nashville gear when they are in town.

I can’t imagine anyone is paying cash for a majority stake. At these prices, clubs must be quite well levered.

That may be the first direct quote I have ever seen from Edwards about his team

I meant with his levers. He doesn't check his chequing account to ask about the daily withdrawal limit.

How does this ownership group make on-ice decisions collectively? It seems that every time we hear about Tre or Conny being handcuffed, its because Murray Edwards was called and voted yes or no to an idea. Does he make the call on behalf of the ownership group due to his percentage of shares?

No one really knows how their ownership operates (I suspect they have a shareholders agreement) but given age, share size, his prominence as the ownership rep at the board of governors etc, and his personality, I imagine he just gets his way. The others are not making calls.

I've personally seen him take a call from the gm and give an answer on player signing - no need to conslut anyone else.

I'd suspect that Edwards as, 'managing partner', has the say in those types of calls in the agreement.

Which I think Hotchkiss did when in that role.

If cp group buys, would we be the Green Bay packers of the nhl?
