Well, except for the part where his gloves were practically off before the puck hit the ice. Putting Westgarth at C is exactly why Hartley's probably going to be $25k poorer on Monday.
The point being, what difference does it make if he's center or wing, he can do that at either position, and at center he's more likely to have to take the face off before he does that. I doubt he does that if Bieska doesn't come in and remove the rookie. Bieska doing that was basically saying ok I'll fight you, of course he choose not to.
I've been really apathetic about this entire season. I've been accepting the Flames fate with pretty much a shrug every game but this line brawl, and the Canucks and their ridiculous coaches reaction to it, really brought back to me how much I friggin hate that team.
They suck, they really do.

I think Bieksa and Westgarth taking the faceoff is what turned what would have been a simple Mcgrattan v Sestito fight into an absolute gong show. B. Jones, Smid and Butler aren't fighters.

I completely agree, although Smid has never been a slouch in the fighting department.
As good a place to put it out there as any I suppose but I really like PJ Stock.
I don't mind him, but the guy has got to find some better suit, shirt, and tie combos. And what's with the humongous knot in his tie? He is definitely not a sharp dresser, that's for sure.
Well, Torts had calmed down before his presser, he addressed one question about the brawl and when Friedman asked him about what he thought would happen from him going to the Flames room, he said he didn't know and wouldn't address the entire incident anymore. Nobody in the media took a chance to try again to ensure awesomeness.
Has Hartley spoke yet?

watching after hours, Hamhuis seems like a misfit on the Canucks...if Torts gets on the radio, someone post.
Presser was boring and Torts was obviously pulled aside and told not to say anything. He only became agitated when Elliott Freidmann tried to get him to answer about why he went to the Flames locker room.
Summary:
Had to put that line up out there
Will kick himself for a long time putting Lain out there but he had to do it
He would do it again if he had to
He's apologized to all the guys involved in the scrum
Will not comment about the Flames hallway event
Unsure about any NHL discipline for events on/off ice
He told Sedin to take his gear off after the second and stay in the room
Felt his team stuck together for the win

I'm having a hard time seeing how Hartley's original intent could have been a line brawl. Since the trade with Carolina our fourth line has been McGrattan, Westgarth and whoever else. So unless starting your fourth line is suddenly an automatic message that a brawl is going to ensue....
Also, you'd have to think O'Brien would be out there if the intent all along was to start something.

Not only that, but given Vancouver's recent goonery, had Hartley started a smaller line only to see them jumped by Vancouver's chief punks, then Hartley would be questioned league wide.
Trusting the Canucks is like asking a stray Rotweiler not to eat your steak you leave out on a picnic table.
