Like pretty much every other 10 year old without a previous favourite team, I was rooting for the '88 squad.
(It was much later when I fell out of love with Netherlands and eventually grew to dislike them.)

Gonzalez playing dangerous there. Rather pointless interference very close to the box.

That dive was 10 out of 10. Brutal that the refs fall for it everytime.

netherlands should be out because robben doesn't deserve to win, can't stand the blatent diving, he seems to be the worst and most obvious of every one in the world cup of embellishment and diving

You're a similar age to me (see my username).
England turned up to Euro 88 and promptly lost all 3 group games (including one against the Dutch). Bad memories for me.
But distinctly remember the Dutch awesomeness, including that goal by van Basten.
Gullit, Rijkaard, van Basten. Not too shabby.

I don't really remember much anything from the actual games. They were the first games I really watched, and I didn't understand that much of it
But I remember that everybody wanted to be van Basten or Rijkaard after those games
And of course, Ruud Gullit sounds quite funny in Finnish
Seems like we might not even need extra time for this.

Well to be fair, there has mostly been some kind of contact.
As I said, Robbens flopping is especially infuriating because he's so good at it.

Impressed with Costa Rica holding the line and forcing the Dutch offside, good discipline. Bad miss by RVP.

There was no contact on the Gonzales arm one.
Diaz would have gotten a 2nd yellow if that was someone other than Robben
