Ah ok, I can see how those would affect your enjoyment of the game. It's been that long that I dont' remember not being able to use the right stick. Perhaps I'll just keep the memories happy in brain and not play it again, except maybe on PC.
I understand what you're saying about the map, but the flip is that you had to learn those streets like the back of your hand. I got pretty good at navigating by the end of my time playing it. However, the dot is still likely superior.
Was San Andreas the one with those Zero missions (voiced by David Cross)? Holy crap, one of those almost gave me a heart attack.
Great game though, I think that and Vice City were my favorites. The music in Vice city was iconic to the game, and SA was just a fun world, with great characters.

San Andreas had the Zero missions. I think they were in San Fierro and if I'm not mistaken, he was the guy who owned the RC store.
The only thing that was really missing in GTA SA was a fully destroyable environment.
How much fun would it be to actually drive a tank through a house.
Or fly a plane into the top of one the casino's to watch it burn.
Or fire a tank round into one of those big oil storage units on the coast.
It would be fun to see a little more craziness from the non playable characters too. It would be nice to put on a bat man costume and break up muggings in a back alley.
But other then that SA was as perfect as you can get.
Even thinking about the mission titled "supply lines" is about enough for me to avoid SA. Infuriating. Great game, but that level needs to go straight to hell.

Just watched the trailer again, I'm actually really starting to wonder if that is someone from a previous game (Vercetti? Claude?). That voice is definitely not Liotta, but I just notice in all the shots of him, they seem to be going out of their way not to fully show his face (profile shot from the building, gas mask robbing a bank, low angle shot of him driving). Just makes you wonder. I gotta admit at least from the profile shot, he does sort of resemble an older Vercetti.
Man, vid's only been out a day, can't imagine how much speculation there's going to be a year from now. R* sure knows how to get the market intrigued.
R* has indeed confirmed that it will take place is Los Santos/San Andreas. They also said this will be their biggest (aww yeah!) and most ambitious game that have ever made (or maybe just GTA game).
So that is awesome, because what I wanted from the next GTA game was it to be as big as San Andreas (now possibly bigger!), and it seems from the trailer some of the crazyness is back. It hints at it anyway.
Is supply lines the one where you had the RC plane and had to shoot all the drug runners off their bikes? Something of that nature?
If so, that mission does indeed need to die in a fire.
This thread has really perked my interest, I think I might pick up one of the older ones the next time there is a steam sale and see if I like it. Normally 3rd person games like this are awkward enough for me , in terms of controls, that it really detracts from the game play.

Then get the first person mod.

Oh yeah, Supply line
Took over 30 tries to get that one. Then I discovered the fuel efficiency gained by using the RC plane as a ground vehicle. Made the mission much easier (assuming it doesn't get run over by other cars)
