i've found the best source for 'smoking wood' has been to get to know your local orchardist!! i got to know the guy that owns the cherry orchard that's right around the corner from my place. he asked how much (free) cherry wood i wanted... 2, 3, 4 cords of wood! i was thinking 1 or 2 nice branches!!
i've picked some up bags of chips at home depot - they were in the $5 - $6 range for about the same size of bag
i'm not sure about larger bags though

I'm not very good with identifying trees but I doubt there are any mesquite or hickory trees in the Calgary area so I don't think getting wood locally is an option.

I've purchased at BBQ Galore in the past and I think the price wasn't very competitive but in the off season there aren't many choices for bbq supplies.

Anyone have experience with Napolean grills? I've been looking at the Mirage 730 series.

Just did my spring cleaning on the BBQ.
Wire brushed everything, venturi brushed the burners and ready for another year!

Question:
We have a BBQ that will be entering its 6th season. It hardly puts out any heat anymore and have tried cleaning. Should I replace the burners or just say hell with it and get a new Bump-A-Cue?

I'd clean it first. Its pretty easy to do and will more then likely fix it nicely.
If that doesn't work then you can replace the burners.

Do the tubes look corroded or cracked? It's probably the burners.
Another thought - are you trying to bbq on a windy day? I have had limited success trying to bbq if it's at all windy. Can barely get the grill preheated.

What kind of BBQ is it, and how many BTU's?

Ipurchased a Napoleon grill a few years ago and it has been fine. if i was buying another one, i'd consider napoleon again.

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I'm going to be a first time BBQ buyer. My dream BBQ would be a Weber, but the price might be too much for me at this time.
If my only requirements is natural gas hook up, and a side burner so I can deep fry outside with a pot, is there any brand/model I should look into? Also, how much BTUs should I reasonably expect my BBQ to have?
Thank you
LChoy

Check out the Master Forge units from Lowes. They have several NG units with side burners. I went with this 4 burner.

What price are you looking to spend?
If you are going to use it year round then you'll want more BTU's (makes sense). Also if you like to make roast/chickens I would really suggest looking at getting one with a rotisserie burner.

It will depend on your budget, but for best value, I'd be looking at a Broil King with a rotisserie burner.
I've got an XLS 90 and love it.

ah it's almost time. Bought our first house with a huge deck , but didn't spring for a BBQ, as it was late in the season, and used that budget for my winter entertainment (xboxOne and NHL15 -> Fail).
as we head into spring, where are the best spots to get a mid level bbq (~$500) on a good deal? Looking for large franchise suggestions as i'm in the GTA, so local calgary sales may not help
