The survey I saw had the Salt Lake Golden Eagles as the name of choice. It had nearly as many votes as all other names combined.

Too many teams with red, white and dark blue. Expect them to add yellow and/or light blue.

Probably a hexagon (honeycomb) shape/element somewhere too. The shape of the state boundaries also lends itself well to a design.

That is too bad. It's a great name.

Stingers or Eagles would be cool. I don't think 'Golden Eagles' would fly with the Golden Knights next door.

Especially when you consider the Vegas owner's preferred name was Black Knights and the Blackhawks nixd that.

Spotted at the Arizona Coyotes Practice facility an anonymous person took a shot at the NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman before the grand finale in the Mullett Arena tonight. Love the Monty Python reference

Considering how long Bettman stuck it out in Arizona when there was no real reason to, they're blaming the wrong person.

Yeah, any team in Canada would have been relocated if it had the same issues. Bettman pulled out all the stops to make it work for as long as they did.

And I get it. The Phoenix market is huge for money and media if it can work. I'd try to make it work there despite the hurdles, because the potential payoff is huge. I just don't see why anyone would blame Bettman for this, except for maybe not pulling the chord earlier before all the negativity killed the brand for the foreseeable future.

LA and Vegas are set to play an exhibition game Sep 23 at the Delta Center, I wonder if that changes now given the relocation

You can't copyright the name Yeti - it's like copyrighting the name of an animal or natural pehnomenon. They can have a logo trademark. As long as those aren't similar there's no real issue. Except, I suppose, if the team tries selling coolers with the name on them.

There are already lower level teams named Yeti, including hockey teams, so that might be a bigger issue.

Actually, I hope they're the Yeti.

I also hope they quickly win a Stanley Cup.

Marketing gold mine... or nightmare.

The Salt Lake Golden Eagles were a 2 x Turner Cup Champion, when the old IHL was active. There is some affection for a throwback name to recall a moderately successful franchise.

The Flames will win the first Yeti Cup, after the name change.
