And that’s after winning 4 straight, lol. Going forward they’re gonna have to win at a ridiculous pace to even get a sniff at playoffs. I just don’t see them being able to do it, especially when their schedule gets tougher and they’re not playing tired teams on back to backs.

They’ve lucked out lately, playing a few teams lately that were in the midst of losing streaks and not playing their best hockey by any stretch.

After this long break, when they come back, they'll begin their long losing streak. Then they'll blame it on their goalies and trade their first and prospects for a old goalie or a younger Soup Boy v2.

OK this cracks me up.

Staples article with the following title ... "Edmonton Oilers coach reveals a big secret about individual player performance"

Sounds pretty exciting right? Couldn't wait to find out what ground breaking find was made by the new Oilers coach.

The answer ... being healthy.

And he wrote a whole article about it.

Now six teams to jump to get into the last wildcard. They have games in hand on some teams but they'll find a way to piss those away against bad teams.

Time to bring back up 0.893 3.28 AHL Soupy. He's ready for the bigs again.

In response to the Canadian Walk of Fame inductees I did a google search and ended up on wikipedia, you have a list of NHL hockey players and their reason of being inducted (most with 4+Stanley cups), then you have McDavid.

"He was a hat-trick and increased his total career points to 700. He completed the 2022-23 NHL season. In a season marked by increased scoring generally across the league, McDavid once again led the league in points from the beginning, this time while also scoring goals at the highest pace of his career thus far."

I think a lot of those who are predicting untempered success for the Oilers are sleeping on this crucial point. It's one thing to make up a seven-point gap; it is just that much more difficult to make that up over six teams. When one or two of those teams are slumping, chances are pretty good that another two are playing great. With so many of them in the mix, you are always chasing someone who is playing good hockey, even if a few of them are not.

Yeah tiers have changed a touch

6 teams that look pretty solid
2 teams that look to be in favoured (Blues sliding and passed by AZ)
5 teams that need to get going
1 Kraken slipping fast
2 Hawks and Sharks are dust

Coyotes moving into that second ledge with the Blues is bad for the other teams. They're up 12% since the last time I looked at it. Kraken and Hawks down 12%. Wild up 8%.

Lots of season left of course.

Team Current
Kings 94%
Golden Knights 89%
Stars 86%
Canucks 82%
Avalanche 81%
Jets 71%
Coyotes 59%
Blues 54%
Predators 44%
Flames 34%
Ducks 29%
Oilers 28%
Wild 23%
Kraken 17%
Blackhawks 7%
Sharks 3%

This one also deserves this:

Seriously, I'm at danger of spraining my eyeballs whenever I come into this thread. Oilers media or the defending/praising of McDavid's crew by the media and Oiler fans is very cringey.

Also those teams play each other so the six are getting points no matter what, and some of them are going to be three point games.

Right now, Vegas, Vancouver, and LA have such a big lead in the Pacific that everyone else is basically chasing the two wild card spots.

There are 8 teams within 6 points of the last wild card, and the Oilers are the 8th team.

Where on earth did you get these numbers? I was assured that the Oilers's chances of getting in were basically 50/50.

The Sharks are the only team with a 0% chance to make the playoffs on that site.

Good chunk of the proposed salary cap increase already allocated to Connor Brown’s bonus in 2024:

And the rest will be taken when they buyout Campbell.
