I have notificed recently that Tim Hortons have been building locations without drive thrus.
Aurburn Bay, Mahogany both don't have drive thrus.
Same with the one by the London condo towers on Macleod.

Well, that just made my day. I used to walk to their 17th Ave location quite often before we moved to West Hillhurst. Don't suppose you've heard anything about when they plan to open?

Nothing concrete. I'll walk by after work and peek in to see if its close to opening.
Meadow Creek butcher shop is open down the street though!

Does Tuk Tuk Thai have a good reputation or something? The one time I had it on 17th it was pretty weak for the wait. I'll be curious when it opens.

I don't know how much of a reputation it has, but for a cheap, quick meal I've always enjoyed it. Never been to Thailand so I can't argue about how authentic it is, I just know I like it.

Has anyone tried them out yet? I walked by on Sunday but it was still early and they weren't open yet.

Tried the steaks. Pretty decent but everything is frozen.

It's best to think of them as a farmers market vendor with a storefront. Indeed - everything there is frozen, but made at their facility in Claresholm.
They have a 6 packages of sausage for $30 promo on Saturday and we've been happy with the sausages. It's roughly the same as Spolumbos on a unit pricing basis. Lots of interesting flavors - Mexican bean chili and Polish Garlic really did taste different. Next time I'm there I intend to get pickup more.
I asked why there weren't any charcuterie offerings. Their big thing is that they don't use nitrates as part of their all natural thing so it wouldn't look/taste like the products people are used to.

Looks like The Daily (which was AWFUL) has changed hands? Has anyone tried the new joint?

Interesting. We always meant to try that place - glad we didn't.

We never made it to The Daily either, heard it was very long wait times for food at first but then got better.
Also it appears that the former Quickly/JusFruit isn't open anymore. At least anytime in the last couple of weeks that I've gone by it appears to be lights out.

Lines got better
Food got worse
Service got terrible
I enjoyed it the first time, when they first opened, but they went downhill fast. Gave it 3 more times and consistently it was AWFUL. And I know we weren't alone as each time there were tables around us that refused to pay for their meals.

Pepinos opened up a second location in the Amec building supposedly. I'll have to find out where.

It is in the Nexen building. You can't miss it if you are coming from the AMEC building in the plus 15

This makes me extremely happy. The ice cream is outstanding - Better than Village.
